Andy Stanley Headlines Ultra-Progressive United Methodist Conference

Adam Hamilton is the senior impastor of Church of the Resurrection, a multi-site United Methodist megachurch with nine locations and over 24,000 active members, making it the biggest UMC church in the country and one of the largest Methodist churches in the world.

We’ve previously covered the progressive, pro-LBGTQ, pro-choice Hamilton after he claimed that there are hundreds of mistakes in the bible, and after he preached a sermon about Mary Magdalene, arguing that the apostle Paul was wrong about the issues of women and ministry. 

Today is the first day of his 2025 Leadership Institute conference, where the promo material explains: the conference will “inspire you to RISE – to new challenges, above limitations, and as a voice of hope. With transformative worship, practical teaching, and meaningful connections, you’ll leave equipped with the tools and renewal you need for ministry today.”

Along with Hamilton, other speakers include North Point Community Church pastor Andy Stanley, Tacey Malone, the pro-LBGTQ, pro-choice Bishop of the Indiana United Methodist Church, author and podcast host Dan Heath, PCUSA pastor Grace Ji-Sun Kim, the pro-LBGTQ and pro-choice  Professor of Theology at Earlham School of Religion, Matt Miofsky, the pro-LBGTQ and pro-choice pastor of The Gathering Church in St Louis, and others.
