Ravi Zacharias’ Wife Breaks Silence – Says all Accusations Are Bogus + Takes Shot at John MacArthur
The wife of disgraced Apologist Ravi Zacharias has broken her silence around the allegations of her husband’s sexual perversities and shenanigans, publicly stating that she does not believe them for a second and that they are all fabricated and made up, perpetuating a cycle of denial in which she and her family find themselves.
In a letter initially sent to relatives, then posted pubicly to her son Nathan’s apologetic website ‘Defending Ravi,’ Margie Zacharias, chief cultural officer for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) and former longtime board member, defended the reputation of her late husband, explaining that she went through all her husband’s personal effects and she saw nothing that would indicate he was anything other than pure as the driven snow.
She writes, in part, with the full letter being posted at the end of this article:
Good am, Family. I love you all.
I wanted you all to know that I have spent the last week going through every paper and article in Ravi’s desk, closet and drawers. I moved last Monday as RZIM told me I had 90 days to vacate our home, which had been promised to me specifically in the case that Ravi died for as long as I wanted it. Before I left the house I wanted to be certain that nothing was left of Ravi that anyone could take and twist and create a story to use against him.
She explains that she has messages from the therapist that treated his back the most in recent years and they offer him a glowing view, affirming their love and respect for him. This in contrast to his business partners and other spa workers who accused him of sexually abusing and molesting the help, including one who says he abused her and her daughter.
…I found a receipt book from which he issued a receipt for every massage he received at home, with the name of the therapist and a description of the treatment, signed by the therapist and by him.
…I found multiple cards from people, including some therapists, thanking him for the blessing he was to them, for his encouragement to them, for leading them into a deeper walk with the Lord or being instrumental in bringing them to the Lord.
After going through his effects, Margie explains, “There is nothing there.”
All of this is to tell you what I did not find: no suspicious financial documents, no financial or real estate arrangements that I did not know about. No investments that I was not aware of. No suspicious letters or cards of a romantic nature from anyone but me. No suspicious expenditures. No products to treat conditions unknown to me.
In short, I want you, his family, to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I found not one suspicious receipt, letter, card, expenditure…absolutely nothing to support the claims being made or the charges against him.
Margie explained that Ravi was not duplicitous and could not act for the life of him – that the poor man couldn’t even keep a secret, least of all from her.
…He could never have kept a secret like they are alleging (alleging, I say, as there is not one whit of evidence to support what they are saying). At the very least, with all the medication he was on at the end and his hallucinations something would have come out if something were there.
Reflecting on his death, Margie reports that Ravi went to his grave professing that he was ready to meet the Lord, and was not fearful.
When Ravi learned his cancer had metastasized he said he was ready to meet the Lord. He had no regrets, he said, except that he would have to leave us behind. He had no fear of dying, of meeting the Lord. His conversations at the end when he was seeing things we couldn’t and talking to people we couldn’t see were not filled with angst or fear or guilt. He was talking about strategy for sharing the Gospel with his unseen visitors. So much for Randy Alcorn and John MacArthur. [Editor’s note: She may be referring to these statements from Dr. MacArthur.]
He never uttered another woman’s name, even in his sleep. His first thoughts every morning were of the Lord, his first words, ‘Thank you, Lord.’
Margie states that she knew him better than anyone else and that he loved her completely, asserting again his innocence and arguing there is no evidence whatsoever that he did that of which he has been accused, with the damning Miller & Martin report all being made up and taken out of context.
He was not perfect. He was a man. As his wife of 48 years, I know this more than anyone else. But his failures were not in this area. He was spectacularly self-disciplined in his conduct, especially where it would reflect poorly on the Lord. He denied himself every single day in order to fulfill his calling and be pleasing to the Lord…
Such a man could not be guilty of what is being alleged and there is no evidence at all to support those allegations, not in his personal effects, his financial records, his correspondence, his actions observed by all who knew him over 74 yrs. Even the so-called evidence in his emails is phrases, words taken out of context and never confirmed with those who knew him, who could give some context.
For the latter, she is referring to statements like this from the report:
- “In 2014, Mr. Zacharias met and exchanged emails with a massage therapist who lived in Bangkok. They used pet names such as ‘sweetheart,’ ‘baby,’ ‘babe,’ ‘darling,’ ‘angel,’ ‘my precious little girl,’ and ‘honey;’ they exchanged selfies (the latest photograph of her is from 2019); and they discussed how much they loved and missed each other. During a May 2014 coup d’etat in Thailand, Mr. Zacharias expressed his worry that travel to Bangkok could be stopped. He told her: ‘I know more than ever that you have become the love of my life. I’m waiting to hold you close to my heart again. Please be safe my angel. I Love you and goodnight from here.’ He told her to keep him ‘as the only one in your heart. I love you my dearest xxxxxx.'”
and:
“Their communications imply that their relationship had a physical component. They discussed not being able to wait until they can be together, that he is ‘longing to hold [her] close again.’ He further wrote: ‘Your face, your smile, your laugh, your touch, the way you love, your hard work, your heart, your care for me, your skill,’ and on and on and on. He called her ‘beautiful in heart and in body.’ She responded later: ‘I love you and kiss you everywhere xxxxxx.’ She said to him she was going to work out ‘to be fit and firm when I see you next month =).’ This woman received significant financial support from TOH [Editor’s note: RZIM slush fund].”
Margie answers a few more objections, explaining that the reason his phones had so many pictures on them was that they were sent to him unsolicited by fans and admirers – that this comes with the territory, but he would never send them or ask for them. She does not explain why he threatened to kill himself if one of these innocent relationships with an admirer was made public, such as with Lori Anne Thompson.
So there are pictures. The investigator never told us their origin, whether he researched them or they were sent to him. Is he responsible for what is sent to him? If he is, then so is everyone else.
She concludes:
There is absolutely no way that Ravi is guilty as charged, convicted, canceled and executed, some even going so far as to claim that he never knew the Lord. I knew him, inside and out. I trust him & believe in him no less than I did on May 18th last year when he called me to him and kissed me as long as he had the strength, his last physical act in his life. It is not because I am in denial. It is because I knew him and because there is absolutely no evidence to support anything contrary.
I have written this because I feel it is important that you, his family, know what I know, know what I have found and not found, so that you may have confidence to continue to love and respect the man you knew, and that you may know that he was the man you knew.

In response to news that the letter had circulated, one of Ravi’s victims, Lori Ann Thompson who at this point has been completely vindicated, wrote on social media.
Even now, Margie keeps Thompson bound by an NDA stemming from her 2017. Given her state of mind and denial, she likely has no intention of ever letting Thompson out of it.
We continue to pray for the victim, and that Ravi’s family come to the knowledge of the truth, rather than concealing it and railing against it.

Ravi was not very organized. His filing system was to designate a drawer (kind of) and throw everything into it. He threw nothing out, and I mean nothing. I found receipts dating back into the 1980’s, including receipts for every restaurant he ever ate in, I think. I lost track of the garbage bags and the hours spent shredding financial & personal documents, as well as confidential & personal documents relating to RZIM.
I found dozens of cards he had kept from the kids & me. I found family pictures, mostly of the kids & me but also some from your growing up days in India. He had a picture of me with my father on my 16th birthday, another of when I graduated from high school. I found notes I had written to him. I found an anniversary gift for me for last year when we were in Houston and a birthday gift for me for last year when he was in heaven. I found cards he had bought to give me but never had the chance.
I found multiple denominations of money in multiple currencies in multiple boxes. I always wondered that he always had cash in the appropriate currency upon arrival in any country I went with him and never had to visit the exchange booths in any airport to pay porters and cab drivers.
I found drawers and drawers of medications he took for the medical issues he was dealing with, including in no particular order sleep aids, metamucil, pain medications, metamucil, energy boosters, metamucil, prostate medications, metamucil, hair growth tonics.
I found boxes of pens and watches never worn as they were good watches, usually given to him, and he was afraid they would create the wrong impression of him.
I found the bag of crosses he gave to every therapist who helped him and which have been used against him, called expensive gifts used to bribe or “groom”…I’m not even sure what that is. I guess normal, civil discourse is grooming because you want to make a good impression on someone. The bag has clearly marked on it who gave them to him (he did not buy them), a friend who is a jeweler. He gave one to me, to Naomi & Sarah & Sarah Kay, to Elizabeth & Barb one Christmas & described how he used them to open a conversation about the Lord with people he met along the way. He had literally dozens of them and gave them out liberally. They were not intended to convey a special or romantic interest.
I am reminded of when Ravi spoke for Billy Graham at Amsterdam ‘86 on The Lostness of Man. Afterward, Billy told Ravi that he had never heard such a powerful sermon on the subject and asked if he could use it. Ravi was really flattered until someone, either Leighton Ford or Cliff Barrows, told him not to put too much stock in what Billy had said as he said that to everyone who spoke for him.

I would also like to tell you that both Naomi and I have had frequent text messages from the therapist that treated his back most often in recent years, affirming the love and respect for him and for us that she and her family still hold and telling us they continue to pray for us and are here for us. She and her family were present at the dedication of the RZIM building.

I have no problem with his wife standing by her husband. I am of course assuming she 100% believes in his innocence.
So Mrs Zacharias should release Lori Ann Thomson from the wicked NDA, if there’s no truth in what she and many others have said.

There is no man perfect we can honestly say this and there is no where in history that a man who worked for the Great Shepherd did not also have a slew of people trying to discredit or kill him. You yourselves did not survive the great exploits of this man nor have you attempted these things at his level. How do I know this. You have learned what you know from reading other people’s work. Therefore in like manner you have believed what someone else has fed you in the accusations against the man Ravi. There is evil in the world. As far as Ravi he was always surrounded and out numbered. His body was at all times against him so much so he had to survive mentally by treatments and massage to ease the great and intense pain that gnawed on him every day. Is it safe to say that what we have here is a form of Stockholm Syndrome? It kind of reminds me how I used to try to lovingly warn my recently deceased aunt 15 or so years ago about the false teachers, like Joyce Meyer and Rod Parsley, whose Ministries she used to give money to.

My biggest problem with Zacharias was watching him fumble with a question years ago at a Ligonier conference regarding whether Roman Catholics are Christians.

A true Biblical conviction requires 2 or more witnesses. I’m not really seeing where that is the case in any of these accusations. A phone held in someone else’s custody which they assure you contains some damning evidence does not count as a witness.

This is only what I know, I am absolutely nobody. But unfortunately (and I really wish this were not true), there have been MANY churches and preachers who were *specifically* targeted by infiltrators – who come from the Jesuit Order (confirmed) and elsewhere (to be confirmed, there is evidence) – who hire an attractive actor/actress and create a false digital profile history then send them in to try to seduce a pastor into cheating on his wife, then work at dismantling the entire church.
Wether they successfully seduce the pastor or not, even if the pastor rebuffs the advances, the infiltrator will lie about it anyway and falsify evidence if they have to like letters and gifts or steal a personal item to claim it was left at their house (similar to the story of Potiphar’s wife accusing Joseph of rape in Genesis 39:7-12).
Some believe they are doing the work of God because they feel the protestant denominations are apostate and should not exist. Some are real agents of freemasonry or satanism (same thing). Unfortunately this is confirmed to have happened, and many times. The Catholic Church naturally denies any wrong doing and works diligently to bury this; being so massive and centrally powerful at the Vatican they won’t go down easily, and have been known to take illegal action to avoid being outed (they have this experience of course with the sexual abuse with their own church).
But one independent protestant church, even if a large ministry like RZIM, doesn’t compare. If Ravi was susceptible (let’s assume he did do those things), then his fellow colleagues may have been just as susceptible to corruption. They may have been unhappy with the ministry or wanted I to go in a different direction, they may have needed him to take the fall for something, they may have also been involved in sexual immorality. Maybe the staff was interested in a piece of the spoils. We simply don’t know what really went on.
Unfortunately mutiny against leaders happens a lot more than we would like to think. We truly live in a fallen world. It just might not be as simple as Ravi is bad and a liar, and everyone else was good and honest.
This could be malicious gossip to which we should not listen to. Let’s instead remove our emotions, give up the right to be offended at one another, and consider humbly what our Lord wants us to learn from this.
It always goes back to the Word and his commandments, and we are to resist temptations and evil or lustful thoughts, make every thought captive under Christ Jesus, keep our focus on what is pure, good, righteous and pure, we are not to listen to gossip, we are to be kind to each other including our brethren we disagree with on matters.
Let’s fight against what we agree is the enemy.

My question. Why would Ravi want to leave anything behind amongst his personal belongings that his wife could see that he indeed was guilty of all the stuff they say he was? It actually makes sense to destroy the papers and delete emails!
Concerning the hallucinations he was having not revealing any affairs. My late first wife’s mother was raped before ever married.
As a result my late wife had an older sister.
Her mother never would reveal the identity of her oldest daughter’s father. Finally she got real bad with dementia.
You would think in that frame of mind she would reveal the father’s name. As far as I know she never did!
So it makes sense to me for Margie to have not found anything condemning Ravi amongst his stuff and yet he still be guilty.

Islam is a religion of submission while following Jesus is about relationship with God. If we were to judge a religion based on what its adherents do, then your religion gets an F minus just like the Catholic Church. (Protestant Christians are not Catholics – it’s a different religion by the way). We can point to an outrageous number of horrendous crimes by Muslims done in the name of Allah and Mohammad. Mohammad also married Aiysha when she was 6 and had sex with her at age 9. IF Ravi is guilty, I think most accusers were at least of the age of consent. CIRA International does a fantastic job of talking about all the things of Islam people should investigate for themselves.
It’s important to discover the TRUTH, not matter how ugly or uncomfortable it is. We need to love the truth more than our community, our reputation, our wife, our husband, our father our mother.
We must investigate fully what is the truth of this life and do what’s RIGHT and GOOD.
If you’re a good person and if your God is GOOD, he will not condone rape, or murder or genocide of innocent civilians no matter what they believe or where they live or work. Wether innocent people minding their business going to work or having coffee or crossing the street or taking the bus to work in a country in the Middle East or wether in a tall tower in America full of people just trying to make a living.
We Christians must not kill. Muslims shouldn’t kill. Human beings of any faith shouldn’t kill. We should all LOVE life and PROTECT life, we must all value human life, and we must all support each other to grow healthy families with decent family values, protect the innocence of children, and have respect between husband and wife, no abuse.

Well put. In Isaiah 46: 5-7, God asks, “…can you picture me without reducing me?” (The Message). Psalm 16:2 and James 1:17 both make it clear that all good comes from God. The last words in Ecclesiastes remind us that God judges everything according to it’s hidden intent. Matthew 5 our Lord warns that sin is within the person. Romans 7:15-20 make clear the ambivalent life of a Christian. The Christian who doesn’t struggle with failure and self-doubt may do well to fear the fall ahead. Salvation is freedom from sin and death, the world is not.

At the end of Ecclesiastes, we learn the conclusion of mankind’s struggle with all that seems vain: the Lord looks at the intention of the heart. When we do good, we do the work of God. Although what is fatal in us cringes at the thought, it is true that through Jesus we have been atoned. This atonement is paramount because there is no depth to our sinfulness. Even in our most righteous and benevolent attitude, with all the strength of humility that we are able to subject our ego underneath, we are fomenting evil further underneath. It is our nature. One may think himself good, but therein he is evil. How then can anyone survive above reproach, truly? Yet we raise many to that pedestal, when in reality, they are just less grotesque outwardly than we. It is the world’s place in sin to profane the work of our Lord Jesus through it’s dark perplexity, while praising, even celebrating, the grotesque and profane work itself inspires. It is the exquisite joy of the Satan to foment hypocrisy on every side. The work of the Lord was, is, and ought to remain accomplished, regardless of the vessel. The vessel is broken, and only will ever remain broken. Salvation is not about mending the vessel, it is the providential genius of our Father in Heaven to make the vessel of no account. Many take exception to that thought, but to them I say, resist the temptation to cast that liberty into Sin’s avenue. To be reunited with God eternally in Salvation sets the mind in ambivalence with the body existentially. We have but before us the next right thing to do, if we can act eternally.
Furthermore, how quickly we give over impartiality to what is foreign out of true blind respect for institution, and discount what is intimately familiar in cold ignorance of an opaque legacy. If faith is hopeless without the Holy Spirit, then doubt is malignant with the Satan. Not one of us were there, but on strangers’ words we lift ourselves to the halls of judgement, denying jurisprudence, accepting the motives of all the revisionists outside and in the ministry. To wit, if we were to know the thorn in Paul’s side…?

Thank You Margie for the letter. I loved listening to Ravi. No evidence until after his death and he had no way to defend himself. These are just my thoughts. Satan tried it with Billy Graham and only succeeded very marginally, this time he sadly succeeded.
I did not know Rivi personally, I met him in 2013 in Florida at a speaking venue but I know him audibly through 100’s of hours of videos and 1,000’s of pages of reading and to me he was the best apologist in my lifetime, his way with getting the truth out was amazing. He was invited countless times to speak in the enemy’s house, not by Lucifer but by residents of the house, Muslims, atheists, universities, Hindus, Buddhists socialist countries, he was even invited to speak at the Mormon tabernacle because as he said countless times every person is made in God’s image and deep down they each are searching for the truth and many thousands if not millions found that truth. Can you imagine where Ravi was on Satan’s list, I would think #1 on the list and I’ve heard Ravi talk many times about guarding against what he is accused of because he knew what it would mean to RZIM’s work and I don’t believe for a second he would destroy over 50 years of his life’s work. I look foward to discussing some of his life’s adventures as we spend eternity with Jesus.
There is a reason a person in America is considered innocent until proven guilty. Anyone that is powerful in this earth necessarily has powerful enemies. Powerful enemies can do terrible things if someone telling the truth gets in their way.
I don’t know if Ravi is guilty or not. I do believe that Ravi’s wife found nothing in the way of evidence like she said. I’ve been falsely accused of many things throughout my life & ministry. My ex wife, my sister, my relatives, have all levelled may accusations that are false. I’ve even been accused many times to my face but none of my accusers have ever had evidence to back up the accusations.
I watched numerous law suits against Trump fall apart when the so called “evidence” was examined by a judge. I also researched every major accusation made against Trump until I found the real story, the information that was withheld, & frankly there is very little that Trump has been accused of that would make it, or did make it, past the preliminary hearing.
I also know the massive amounts of money that corrupt government officials were prepared to pay to anyone that would turn on Trump. Frankly I don’t now the truth of the situation. Nobody actually does except Ravi himself & his accusers. There is not enough evidence for me to make a legitimate judgement. Most of you reading this probably think that your strong beliefs in the testimonies of those accusing him are enough.
I know from many years of painful experience &, because I had the opportunity to successfully have my cases tried in court, & also won those cases when real scrutiny came upon them, that it is not enough to have loads of hearsay in order to legitimately convict someone of such things as have been alleged. I’m so disappointed that the body of Christ has become so weak & ineffective at getting to the truth of things that I find it embarrassing to be among such shallow people that simply believe negative gossip as proof so that they feel justified in their mob mentality that someone must be guilty because people are accusing him/her.
How do you know that the accusers are not being paid for that in order to harm the voice of someone that’s making a serious difference in the face of deadly opposition to their voice? You don’t. You think you do but you don’t have the degree of evidence you’d hope people would have if it was you being accused.
Because his wife was the only eye witness to go through his belongings I find that to be the most credible evidence of anyone’s testimony because it’s virtually impossible for someone to not leave traces of their crimes. Especially someone that’s not very organized.

It was and even is not a surprise to observe the resulting reaction after Ravi Zacharias’s passing. Jesus Christ Victory and Grace have been upon him since he failed to commit suicide in his youth to serve HIM. From the beginning of Ravi Zacharias’s commitment to his passing, Christ Jesus has done what Ravi Zacharias asked HIM to do with his life. The life of Ravi is a Great Victory for Christianity. What is indisputable is that we will see Ravi Zacharias again when The Lord Jesus Christ comes back to reign for 1000 years on the earth.
The Lord Jesus Christ will remake new earth and new heaven for us with Ravi Zacharias. All together, we will adore and glorify Jesus Christ from whom we exist to live for GOD, The Father. The allegations were reported as being originally set in motion by an atheist that hated Ravi. The so called investors were hacks paid to find dirt, as they were hired to do with other people who were targeted by accusers. But what of cross examination? This case seems to fall apart when examined with an open mind. The Bible puts “bearing false witness” up there with adultery and murder. Maybe they need to check the bank accounts of those who came forward with the allegations. I’ve watched enough programming on crime to know this case against Ravi is flimsy.
