‘Body tired, heart full.’ Nearly 900 People Baptized At Lakepointe Church Yesterday

Nearly 900 people were baptized yesterday at Lakepointe Church during ‘Baptism Weekend, ‘with senior Pastor Josh Howerton sharing on social media several stories of the grace of God working in the hearts of congregants.

At the Royce City campus, one couple was married in the morning and then baptized hours later.

At another campus, three generations of one family were baptized together.

We last wrote about the 30,000-member multi-campus congregation in Rockwall, Texas, after more than 50 unmarried, cohabiting couples got married in a joint ceremony mere weeks after being challenged by their pastor to be obedient to Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Following his ‘Fight the good fight’ sermon, Howerton closed it out with a gospel message:

“(Jesus) is the propitiation for our sins. He is the payment that satisfies. He came and lived the life that you have not lived. He died the death that you deserve to die. And if you by faith receive him, that he is your substitute and the Lord will look at you and reward you for his finished work. You become his righteousness he takes all your sin.”

Those who had already pre-registered to be baptized were invited to make their way to the exits so they could come around to the stage. For those who hadn’t pre-registered but felt the tug of the Holy Spirit, he encouraged them to come and be baptized spontaneously, while overcoming any objections they may have.

If you’re like, ‘yeah, but I didn’t come ready.’

We came ready for you.

‘Hey man I don’t have a towel.’

We got 30,000 towels. We enough towels.

‘Oh, I can’t get baptized in these clothes. I can’t get my clothes wet.’

We have clothes for you.

‘You know, you’re not gonna have my size.’

We have every size from like little baby to like queen size bed sheet. You name it, we got them all. Everything, everything, everything. We got them all.

‘I can’t, what about my underwear?’

We literally have underwear for you. I’m not joking. I’m for real, not joking. It’s the weirdest thing we order every year. We have underwear for you.

‘Oh, what about my hair? What about my hair?’

Did you listen to the first part of the sermon? And good news, we have hair nets at every single campus. We are ready for you.

Listen, you didn’t come ready for him, he came ready for you. Come, just come, just Just come, man. Today’s the day.

Sharing on Facebook, the church reported that 882 people were baptized during a coordinated effort across eight campuses, proclaiming:

“That number is real people with real stories. People who have walked through addiction, broken relationships, doubt, loss, success that still left them empty, and still far from God. And now, they’re standing in the water saying JESUS has changed everything, and HE IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS. Never stop praying for one more to know Christ!”
