More than three years after the Dobbs decision, in which the Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade, a new report from the Foundation to Abolish Abortion (FAA) reveals that despite the fanfare and claimed victory from pro-life organizations, abortions have not substantially decreased across the country, but have instead increased.
According to the newest edition of Babies Unprotected, whose analysis includes overall abortion numbers for the thirteen states with general abortion provider bans (Alabama, North Dakota, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, South Dakota, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky) and four states with six-week provider bans (Texas, Louisiana, West Virginia, Mississippi), 292,534 preborn babies were murdered last year, an increase from 234,774 babies in 2019.
Using Mississippi as an example:

Notably, this chart and these published statistics are a conservative estimate, as they only include abortion pills obtained through U.S.-based telehealth providers, and not abortifacients acquired from non-telehealth online pill sellers, such as “community networks, international telehealth, and advance provision of pills.”
The report reveals that while pro-life organizations passing pro-life laws were effective in shutting down surgical abortion centers in these “pro-life states,” access to abortion has been easily overcome following the Dobbs decision.
Abortion-minded women either traveled out of state to have abortions or pivoted to telehealth abortion, which Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice organizations threw their support and resources behind in earnest.

In fact, even The Satanic Temple began offering “free religious telehealth medication abortion care.”
Commenting on the report, FAA President Bradley Pierce said in a statement: “Pro-Life leaders claim their laws save lives, ban abortion, and even make states abortion-free. But since abortion still remains legal for women under Pro-Life laws, overall abortion numbers are still rising for states where Pro-Life groups have influence.”
FAA points out the easily foreseen consequences of a pro-life ideology that sought to regulate abortions rather than criminalize the act itself.

Put another way, Roni.E (@mustbtennis6 on X) points out that “instead of going after the murderer(s), the Pro-Life Movement chose to go after a murder weapon, which allowed a different murder weapon to thrive.”
