Voddie Baucham underwent quadruple bypass surgery on Monday at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl, emerging from a major medical procedure in good shape, being awake and responsive, according to an update by Founders President Tom Ascol, of which Voddie is a ministry partner.
Voddie was preparing to go on a book tour in support of his new book Fault Lines when one of his tests caught the blockage, resulting in the need to get it fixed as soon as possible. Prior to this, Baucham was recovering well and had been gaining strength by the day, with the routine test that brought the news supposed to be his last one for a month.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Coronary bypass surgery is a procedure that restores blood flow to your heart muscle by diverting the flow of blood around a section of a blocked artery in your heart. Coronary bypass surgery redirects blood around a section of a blocked or partially blocked artery in your heart.”
It carries with it significant risk, including having a heart attack or stroke during the surgery or shortly thereafter, with a long and difficult recovery ahead.
Please continue to pray for Voddie, as well as his wife Bridget and their children.
