Hypocrite! LA County Sup. who is Forbidding John MacArthur’s Church from Opening Breaks Own Rules

One of the LA County Health Supervisors who has been fighting to keep John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church closed, and whom the church is seeking to subpoena for a deposition for her role in levying fines, taking away their parking lot access after nearly 50 years of use, and levying massive fines against the California megachurch, showed herself to be the interminable hypocrite when she engaged in activities she voted to make illegal.

The tyrannical government pawn Sheila Kuehl voted 3-2 to close all outdoor dining in her county, saying that it was a “most dangerous situation” and that “the servers are not protected from us, and they’re not protected from their other tables that they’re serving at that particular time, plus all the hours in which they’re working,”

Yet mere hours before this new shutdown law went into effect, she was out on the town, eating at an outdoor restaurant Il Forno Trattoria and indulging in the same behavior she just made illegal because of how “unsafe” and “dangerous” it was.

According to her spokesperson Barbara Osborne, when asked about her hypocrisy, she acknowledged that Kuehl

…did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit.

The LA County Supervisor is one of the women that Pastor John MacArthur asked his congregants to contact back in August, asking her for some form of reason and sanity and to relent from her wicked ways and say some variation of the following:

Dear Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. We respectfully request that you cease your attempt to enforce your order against Grace Community Church. We stand together as Christians in our constitutionally protected fundamental right that Church is essential. Our government is obligated to protect our liberties and freedoms, especially our free exercise of religion, and we ask you to fulfill that obligation to us.”

Sheila Kuehl
Phone: 213-974-3333
sheila@bos.lacounty.gov

As far as the court case goes, Grace Community Church’s attorneys are seeking to get her deposed because they want to ask her about “any and all actions taken by the County of Los Angeles against Grace Community Church of the Valley, including evidence regarding the basis, motivation, and reasons for such actions.”

The County lawyers, however, are supremely opposed to the notion and so far it has not been ruled on.

The Gospel Coalition 2020 Best Book Awards Are a Hot Mess

The Gospel Coalition continues to bear rotting and putrid fruit, this time in the form of their 2020 best book awards. According to the site:

Each year our editors, along with dozens of key contributors, review the nominations from Christian publishers using the following fourfold criteria:

-offers gospel-centered argument and application;
-includes faithful and foundational use of Scripture, both Old Testament and New Testament.
-fosters spiritual discernment of contemporary trials and trends; _encourages efforts to unite and renew the church.

To be fair, we haven’t read half the books we’re sharing, and so far from being a commentary on the contents (with a few exceptions) we’re more interested in what and who the super sketchy Gospel Coalition is promoting when they’re not doing all these bad things. Some of the winners and runner ups may be fine books and authors, but our purpose is to point out a few winners and runner ups and ask “what were they thinking?’ and whether or not the theology being promoted is being faithful to scripture and fosters spiritual discernment.

Public Theology & Current Events.

Winner:
Carl Trueman. The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution

Runner Up:
Russell Moore, The Courage to Stand: Facing Your Fear without Losing Your Soul (B&H)
Rachel Gilson, Born Again This Way: Coming Out, Coming to Faith, and What Comes Next (The Good Book Co.)

We’ve never read Truemans’ book, but the fact that the cowardly and dishonest Russell Moore almost won, or the SSA theologanette gets a nod is hilarious, given that it certainly violates all 4 of that critera. See why here and here.

Popular Theology

Runner up:
Esau McCaulley, Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope (InterVarsity Press)

Jared Wilson, The Gospel According to Satan: Eight Lies about God that Sound Like the Truth (Thomas Nelson)

Esau McCalley is a progressive, race-baiting proponent of Black Liberation Theology and Critical Race Theory. See why here. Jared Wilson is a member of the evangelical Intelligensia who has a wretched theology and doesn’t even know if George Whitfield was a Christian. His theological chops leave much to be desired. See why here and here.

Ministry

Winner:
Paul David Tripp, Lead: 12 Gospel Principles for Leadership in the Church (Crossway)

Trip, whose full-time job was helping hucksters like Mark Driscoll and Tullian Tchivdijian prove they were fit for ministry amidst various controversies (he’s virtually the Grim Reaper for pastoral integrity) took a side-gig with the Gospel Coalition as a professional personality. Maybe his book is good, but his leadership chops are not. See why here and here.

True to form, the list is the bad fruit of the cursed tree- quintessential Gospel Coalition claptrap which amounts to a purifying, liquidated, flies-buzzing-around fermented mass.

Go dump that sludge into the composter or somewhere in the back forty.

It’s stinking to high heaven.

Not The Bee! Maryland Pastor Cited For Not Wearing a Mask While in Empty Church Office

(Lifesite News) Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the early release of inmates while unleashing health departments to threaten the closure of churches, citing COVID health concerns.

American Constitutional Rights Union (ACRU) has learned that Community United Methodist Church in Pasadena, Maryland has been issued a citation resulting from one employee of the church answering the door to the church during office hours, momentarily without a mask, to unlock the door for a Health Department official. The church was not holding services at the time and the employee had been alone in an office until the Health Department official showed up at the door unannounced.

After issuing the citation, the health department official informed the pastor, Rev. Dennis Jackman M.D., that he would return and if the church was not in full compliance with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health COVID-19 Guidance (authorized by Health Officer Nilesh Kalyanaraman and County Executive Steuart Pittman) that the church would be deemed an “unsafe facility” and “closed until the state of emergency has been terminated.” The citation also threatens criminal charges and “imprisonment of up to one year, and /or a fine of up to $5000.”

This was threatened despite the fact the church had been following all county guidance during church services and had made every effort to ensure the safety of worshippers. According to the pastor, Rev. Dennis Jackman M.D., the health official came to the door of the church during the week, while no services were being held.

“I was in my office alone, without a mask on, and heard someone at the locked door of the church. I was not expecting anyone, so I went to see who was trying to get in the church. Immediately after answering the door, I went to my desk and put on my mask, but the health official…

A Miscarriage Picture of a Baby at 9 Weeks. The Size. The Size…

We can always use reminders that babies in the womb are made in the image of God, whether they be 9 months, 9 weeks, or 9 minutes old. This is what we’re fighting for and what we’re putting our time and energy around, to the glory of God and his name. Let us use this to be motivated and committed to the cause. Though this specific picture is of a miscarriage, it demonstrates the size of babies being chopped up, gassed, or poisoned in the womb; 3000 a day, every day, at a million per year.

From an Instagram account miscarriage.stories

Iv almost shared this photo so many times. Iv decided to do it today. Because every birth matters, and I want to honor this child and every child who won’t grow up along with all the beautiful live births I capture.
This is my child, Elsie LynnGayle Allen. She was born in Colorado on Nov 27th at 5:30am. 3 days after my grandmas funeral. 6 days after my birthday. 7 days after my grandma passed.
The next day was thanksgiving. I flew home that night.

It was a full strong labor and delivery. She had passed away 2-3 weeks prior to this but I didn’t know it then. I was supposed to be 12 weeks along. She was born perfectly in her waters, en caul, with the placenta surrounding. This photo was taken after that was peeled away. She was whole and beautiful and her life mattered. I’m so grateful for the experience I had despite the heartbreak we are going through. So much strength and power flowed through my body during this labor.

So much grace was given to me as I flew home the day after. I had so many prophetic dreams and physical manifestations of this child, and her loss, before this pregnancy was even begun. We knew her deeply despite never seeing her alive. We love her. We miss her. And we’re morning everything she meant to us….

Let us not grow weary, or forget the names of those who said it was ok to support those who were ok with this.

Pope in New Book: ‘It’s Time for Universal Basic Income’

In Pope Francis’ new book Let Us Dream: The Path to a Better Future, which is set for release December 1st, the pernicious Pontiff who has been keeping Roman Catholic apologists on their toes with a whirlwind of spicy comments – approving same-sex civil unions, affirming Biden’s catholic faith, appointing pro-LBGT cardinals to positions of power, and generally engaging in Green New Deal fanboyism – has decided to feed his little Marxist soul a few rounds of outrage and attention by enjoining in a thinkalong about the merits of Universal Basic Income (UBI).

Universal Basic Income is a government program where every adult receives a set amount of money on a regular basis. Essentially, everyone gets a base income, typically tens of thousands of dollars a year in direct transfer from the government, regardless of whether one works or not. There are no strings attached and no restrictions on how it ought to be spent.

Universal Basic Income was last tried on a large scale in Canada in 2017, when 4000 low-income applicants were awarded the monies. Singles were given nearly $15,000 and couples $20,000 a year. This program was scrapped after an election was called and the incoming government crushed the outgoing one 10 months later. Finding that 25% of people stopped working altogether, the Conservative Party said the program disenfranchised people from keeping and maintaining a job, and therefore was discontinued.

The Pope, bless his heart, is salivating and licking his chops at such a prospect. He writes:

God asks us to dare to create something new. We cannot return to the false securities of the political and economic systems we had before the crisis. We need economies that give to all access to the fruits of creation, to the basic needs of life: to land, lodging, and labor…

We need a politics [sic] that can integrate and dialogue with the poor, the excluded and the vulnerable, that gives people a say in the decisions that impact their lives…

I believe it is time to explore concepts like the universal basic income (UBI), also known as ‘the negative income tax:’ an unconditional flat payment to all citizens, which could be dispersed through the tax system.

Criticizing the government’s “false assumption of the infamous trickle-down theory that a growing economy will make us all richer,” the Pope went on to plead with governments to hand out “an unconditional lump-sum payment to all citizens, which could be paid through the tax system” while asserting that “universal basic income could reshape labor market relations by guaranteeing people the dignity to refuse employment conditions that lock them into poverty.”

Video: Pastor Interrogated and Fined $1652 For Traveling to Give Caregiving Help to Disabled Church Member Amid Lockdown

A Pastor in Melbourne, Australia, living under the harshest and strictest lockdown measures in the world, was stopped, interrogated, fined $1,652, and made to turn around and leave after attempting to give caregiving help to a disabled Church member.

This abuse of power took place on September 30, when a member of Pastor Stephen Hills’ Church who has a disability informed him that he needed some urgent help. Given that “caregiving” is one of the few legitimate means to be traveling, Pastor Hills grabbed his documentation and eventually found himself at a COVID-19 checkpoint, one of the dozens of blockades set up ensure no one is disobeying lockdown orders.

Australia’s lockdown has been so severe, for a long time people were not allowed to travel more than 5 km away from their homes and were forbidden from having anyone over to their houses, as well as were prohibited from going outside their homes to exercise in public parks or nature paths, or even a walk down the street.

At the checkpoint, Hills explained to the officer why he was traveling “just going down to (visit) a church member. Caregiving and practical help.” He showed the officer his Driver’s License and Pastor’s ID card, but the officer again asked why he was going down. Hills reiterated that he was going to help a disabled church member with an urgent task but the officer then began to question why Stephen was acting so nervously.

After explaining that he was unnerved by the checkpoints, the officer told him to pull off to the side, due to his suspicious behavior, a move Hills found incredulous.

I gave him the evidence. I gave him the license. I gave him all the requirements, and he just wouldn’t believe me; and it was the injustice of not being believed and knowing I was doing something to help someone out.

The officer demanded to know the name and address of the disabled church member, information Hills declined to share, citing that ministers have the duty to maintain confidentiality. The Officer said that he didn’t believe him and because he wouldn’t give up the name said, “I don’t think that you meet the criteria of caregiving under essential travel.”

The officer fined Hills $1652 and turned him around, forcing him to find other arrangements for the distressed parishoner.

Movie Launch! Documentary of the Scandalous ‘First Baptist Church Naples’ Story is Out

Enemies within the Church has released their documentary about the scandalous shenanigans that went down in 2019 at a now-prominent Southern Baptist Church (SBC) megachurch, where a failed pastoral search led to scurrilous accusations of racism and sin on part of dissenting members made national headlines.

We covered the story extensively at the time, and anyone wanting a ton of articles and primary sources can check out the Pulpit & Pen archives, but as a bit of a primer, an SBC megachurch in Florida needed a new pastor after Senior Pastor Hayes Wicker announced he was stepping down. After a time the pastoral search committee sought to bring on Marcus Hayes on board. Congregants had some questions about and concerns about what they viewed as Hayes’ progressive beliefs and ultimately he wasn’t voted in, receiving only 81% of the vote that requires an 85% threshold.

This caused the leadership of FBC Naples blow their top and to. go. off. Because Hayes is a “POC,” they got up on stage and declared that the reason he was rejected was that the congregation’s members were all racists. They released a public letter and lamented the congregant’s prejudice, announcing that anyone who voted against likely did it because he has black skin and they have a black heart and as a result there would be hell to pay.

And there was.

After the dust settled. 700 people left the church and nearly 20 families were formally excommunicated, including some that had been there decades, without ever having provided proof of their charges.

The President of the SBC, J.D. “Hold-my-beer” Greear did as he is wont to do: ignorantly going off half-cocked without knowing what the heck he was talking about and concurred with the accusation of racism despite no evidence.

There’s much more than that, of course. There is so much double-crossing and backstabbing and kind of sin is not even heard of among unbelievers. And this film by “Enemies Within the Church” documents it all.

You can watch the trailer below, and then the full length movie after that.

Holy Woke! VP of NAMB’s SEND Network: ‘Gospel is Not Good News without Economic Restoration’

Dhati Lewis, the Lead Pastor of Blueprint Church in Atlanta, Georgia and the Vice President of Send Network with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) has some wild things to say about what the gospel is and isn’t, adding another brick in the wall of our claims that the SBC is going to hell in a handbasket over their failure to cut off and cauterize this progressive gangrene.

Dhati made the following comments on Sept 21 on his Where life exists channel.

Props to @WokepreacherTV for the video and transcript:

The gospel is not simply a message for the afterlife. It has real-time, real-life applications for our day-to-day lives. We see it modeled perfectly in the life of Jesus. We know he met the spiritual needs of people, but we also know that he met emotional needs, as well. He met economic needs and also social needs. He healed the sick, challenged corruption in leaders and systems. He honored the poor and the outcasts. Wherever Jesus went, holistic restoration was taking place.

The gospel is not good news without spiritual redemption and restoration, but the gospel is also not good news without emotional, economic, and social restoration, as well. The good news of the kingdom is that God is establishing a new order where all things, spiritual, emotional, economic, and social, are restored to their original, sinless design.

So let’s take a look at the gospel using my tool that have called the Three Circles. Traditionally, this is how we share the gospel, right? We see on here: God’s design. What do we mean? God created the world, and it was good. We lived in perfect relationship with God, with one another, and his creation. However: sin. Adam and Ever came in, sinned, and the whole world was put under a curse, bringing separation between us and God, and that’s why we understand and we look at brokenness. But the problem is is that we only are addressing spiritual brokenness. Sin led to our spiritual brokenness. We cannot earn our salvation, but we try to anyway. We look to sex, money, power, fame, and so many other things to try to get back to God. But they only lead us further and further away.

But when we learn the truth of the gospel, we learn that Jesus came to earth, died for our sins, and rose again, and that if we repent and believe, then we can have access to God. The Holy Spirit indwells in us [sic], gives us the power to recover and pursue God’s design for us, to live in perfect harmony with him.

But! Do you recognize how this gospel presentation falls short? Sin caused brokenness to more than just our spiritual needs. I believe Tim Keller is spot on when he says we must neither confuse evangelism with doing justice nor separate them from one another. You see, the gospel demands the church engage holistically with our cities.

But hey, as our #BigEva overlords tell us: There’s no liberal drift in the SBC.

Folks, it’s time to lose the leg.

Vermont Gov. Tells Kids to Rat on Parents who Celebrated ‘Unauthorized’ Thanksgiving

(LifeSiteNews) – Vermont’s governor asked the state’s schools to interrogate children and parents about their Thanksgiving gatherings when the students return after the holiday, and if it’s determined a “multi-family” get-together took place, the kids will be forced into quarantine.

“Unfortunately, we know some will still get together and schools have asked for help. @VTEducation will direct schools to ask students or parents if they were part of multi-family gatherings and if the answer is yes, they’ll need to go remote for 14 days or 7 days and a test,” Republican Gov. Phil Scott tweeted.

Scott’s tweet directs the Vermont Agency of Education to take charge of asking schools to question students about their Thanksgivings.

According to a Burlington Free Press report, Dan French, who serves as Vermont’s Education Secretary, said he hopes that families will come out “honestly” about their Thanksgiving gatherings.

“Schools operate on..
