‘Churchome’ pastor Judah Smith is making waves after suggesting that folks can continue to be Hindu (Or Muslim, or Buddhists, or Mormon) as long as they still “follow Jesus”- whatever that means.
Smith is a hip-to-be-cool, celebrity-endorsed Seattle-based megachurch pastor (along with his wife) who has amassed hundreds of thousands of congregants who virtually attend “church” exclusively through their app.
The Smiths are also about as seeker-sensitive and biblically compromised as they come. We last wrote about them after Judah Smith said masturbation is a weapon/ gift for single folks to prevent lust, after it was revealed they were paying $100,000/year to Hillsong for the privilege of their pastor getting to hobnob with other celebrity pastors and rake in the big bucks, and after his wife Chelsea’s answers to abortion questions were breathtakingly bad.
Appearing on a recent episode of the Miracle Mentality podcast, Smith explained to host Tim Storey:
“I tell [people], ‘You can call yourself whatever you want, bro. It’s just- you’ve got to meet Jesus.’ I don’t care. I’ve got a friend who’s like, ‘I’m still Hindu, but I follow Jesus.’ I’m like, ‘cool, bro.’ You think I care? I don’t think we’re going to get to heaven, and Jesus is like, ‘You gotta take the title ‘Christian.’
That wasn’t even a title given by Jesus…I think the point is to follow Jesus.
'Churchome' pastor Judah Smith says it's ok to be a Hindu as long as you "follow Jesus"?
