Prominent evangelical teaching and preaching ministry G3 is shutting down their G3 Church Network “effective immediately,” according to a brief email they sent to network church partners that was obtained by Protestia.

Most of you have heard the recent controversy. A statement was posted this morning here.
We are dissolving the G3 Church Network effective immediately. All who have recurring dues set up through Stripe will have those canceled by the end of the week.
We are sorry for any pain we have caused you.
The G3 Church Network is a “global fellowship of Reformed Baptist churches committed to sound doctrine, expository preaching, and the sovereignty of God in all things.”
With a minimal financial commitment of $500/year, and over 100 churches in the Network in the US alone, it aimed to be a “ministry connection point for pastors and local churches.”
The move comes on the heels of another letter sent this morning by G3 to Tom Buck of First Baptist Church Lindale, apologizing for the anonymous distribution of damaging allegations against him.
The letter was signed by Scott Aniol, Jon Norton, Dylan Joyner, and Matt Sikes- now ‘former; pastors of PMBC, a prominent Reformed church in Douglasville, GA, known for their teaching ministry and association with G3 ministries- who resigned last Friday from the church.
Protestia publisher David Morrill has criticized the curt message and the lack of communication and meaningful interaction towards both Tom Buck and partner churches and supporters, given the deep influence, trust, financial support, and longstanding relationships G3 has built with pastors and churches over nearly 15 years.

Satan has devoured another thing. We are all sinners and fall daily. Without the blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we would be separated from God forever. But this is why you have to be so careful in believing gossip, slander and “well, this says this” everywhere especially in the Church. The local church was handling it with Tom Buck (and that is between them), but it is inexcusable what the G3 people did and Tom must have really created some enemies there. People need to open their eyes to a long held belief that pastors are almost held in god-like status. Some of the worse staff members I have worked with have been pastors and the staff is helpless. Think about it. Who do you go to as a staff member to tell what is really going on “behind the veil” of the church? For those at G3 who did this horrible thing should disqualify them immediately from any pastorate, elder role or teaching position. You don’t excise the cancerous tumor and it will spread throughout the body.
Too much “teaching as doctrines the commandments of men”. For one, the concept of church autonomy. If carried to the extreme, then this website and its existence would be sinful. Any church or individual who claims the name of Jesus is accountable to the entirety of the body of Christ, to His word, and ultimately to Him on the day of judgment. Scripture clearly defines the when, why, how of autonomy. For another, the concept of plagiarism. God has not defined plagiarism as a sin. The sins that may or may not be involved would be theft and deceit. And in the case of sermons, the more serious sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, because He is supposed to be the source of those sermons. The man called to speak is supposed to actually be called to speak and to say what the Lord has led him to say (not, for example, some stock sermon he bought off the internet). But it is certainly possible to repeat what someone else says without any theft or deceit or other sin involved. Many times Jesus said “you’ve heard it said” or “the saying is true”. To the scribes and pharisees He said “your accuser is Moses”. But Moses didn’t make up the law. He wasn’t the author of it. It was given by God. So was that plagiarism, or was it a matter of Jesus reasoning with the pharisees to get the point across and to bring them to repentance?
The implication that has been made by still implying that Buck committed grievous sins is that church autonomy should be respected to the point that sin should be hidden and covered up – basically that it doesn’t matter how much wickedness might be going on in a local church, it’s nobody else’s business. And that is extremely wrong and contrary to scripture. Where the name of Jesus is claimed and there is sin involved, it is the business of every born again Christian alive everywhere and anywhere on the earth. If the “plagiarism” were to involve grievous sin, then it certainly wouldn’t be wrong to call that out. But not everything the world defines as “plagiarism” is sin.
Be careful to avoid “teaching as doctrine the commandments of men”. Be careful to stick to God’s standards and not the standards of the wicked world.
