Missing ‘Real Life Ministries’ Pastor Gene Jacobs Found Dead From ‘Self-inflicted Gunshot Wound’

A congregation is in mourning after their missing pastor was found deceased from a ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound,’ according to law enforcement.

Gene Jacobs, 59, was the lead pastor of Real Life Ministries Silver Valley, a satellite campus of the megachurch Real Life Ministries, led by Jim Putman.

He was reported missing by Real Life Church members after failing to attend an early morning 6:00 meeting. Concerned congregants told police that potential threats were made against him, prompting authorities to treat it as a possible abduction and begin investigating and searching right away,

Police and church members used ATVs, drones, cell phone information, and on-foot volunteers to find him, but to no avail. Eventually, a search and rescue helicopter discovered his body in mountainous region off the hiking trails, which was too steep and remote the teams on foot to cover. According to Pinehurst Police:

A recovery team responded to the location and found Pastor Gene deceased. His body was safely removed from the location and turned over to the Shoshone County Coroner and Shoshone Funeral Home. Initial indication is that Pastor Gene Jacobs died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Based on the investigation and evidence so far, there is no reason to suspect foul play, but to ensure a complete investigation, an autopsy is scheduled.

Responding to the news, RLMSV shared on Facebook:

Jacobs leaves behind a wife of 32 years and two adult children.
Keep this church and family in your prayers.

    1. 1) No you do not need to know.
      2) What indication do you have that some horrible sin motivated him to end his life? Sadly, there are lots of reasons for suicide. Perhaps now is a time to just mourn with those who mourn…I think I read that somewhere.

      1. This is not tabloid ‘journalism’ where someone was seen at a club with someone else.

This question may or may not be ‘legitimate’ but it certainly is in poor taste and reflects your priorities and total lack of compassion for those that are actually impacted by this loss.

        But you do you
