Bethel Church Bars Pervert Prophet From Church Property

Months after the International House of Prayer announced that prominent prophet and long-time ministry friend Bob Hartley would no longer be permitted access to the prayer room following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse spanning a decade, Bethel Church in Redding, California has followed suit, sending an email to congregants warning them not to have anything to do with him.

Hartley is the founder and president of Hartley Hope Ministries, which “serves to train and equip believers with spiritual tools and resources to bring forth hope to the world.” Known in NAR circles as a gifted prophet who has traveled the world and rubbed shoulders with the who’s who of vision-casting apostles, Hartley was exposed as a predator during the peripheral investigations into IHOP personnel, resulting in his fall from grace.

Hartley is accused by nearly a dozen women of harassment and sexually exploitative behavior going back almost a decade, including asking for nudes, sending them his semi-nudes, and soliciting them for sex.

Following his expulsion from IHOP, Hartley was seen at Bethel Church, posting videos of himself talking to folks, playing with children, and having a great time of his life. This caught the attention of Hartley’s son, who last month contacted the church about his father, warning them of his actions and that they should not let him on campus.

Following his advice, Bethel finally contacted the church at large, informing congregants that while Hartley was asked years ago not to “prophecy and minister” at the church following revelations of a turbulent and sinful life, (but was still “free to attend church, drop into occasional staff meetings” and “contact some of our leaders,”) those privileges have been revoked, writing:

A pattern of choices has created an even larger breach of trust, such that we have asked Bob to not be on our campus for the foreseeable future. We are writing to you to say clearly that Bob is not empowered in any way to minister in our environment, on our property, in homegroups, or in any area of our congregation.

We also strongly recommend you do not accept any invitations from him for ministry or one-on-one engagement.

They further state:

If you should happen to see Bob on campus during this season, hear of him inviting people over for ministry, and/or have important information to share with us, we’re asking you to connect with Mustafa and/or the Bethel Security team

Glad to see his circle get smaller and smaller.
