Ohio Pastor Dies After Trying To Rescue Two Sons from House Fire
A community is in mourning after Ohio pastor Mark Robinette perished in a house fire while trying to save his two young sons. According to the Columbus Dispatch:
The fire broke out around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Robinette family home on the 11000 block of Ballah Road in Orient. Crews from eight fire departments responded to the scene to help extinguish the fire at the two-story home.
The fire marshal’s office said in a press release Wednesday that there are no indications of foul play in the fire, but the cause has not yet been determined.
Mark Robinette, 55, and his sons, Liam, 10, (center) and Gideon, 17, (far right) died in the fire.
According to a gofundme set up for him:
A fire broke out in the house. Mark was able to get his wife Andrea (nee’ Trapani) and two children who were sleeping upstairs out of the house to safety. When he tried to rescue the other two children who were still in their bedrooms upstairs, all 3 perished in the fire.
Robinette was the pastor of Foundational Church in Mount Sterling, the president of Chin Heritage Foundation, and the founder and director of many missionary organizations in Myanmar and Southeast Asia.
On a personal note, we’ve interacted with him in small ways over the years and always found him to be kind, friendly, fun, and extremely gracious. Please keep his family in your prayers.
Welcome home, good and faithful servant.
Heartbreaking but at least all are in the Lord’s presence.
