Impastor Preaches Sermon Comparing Harvard Plagiarist Claudine Gay to Apostle Peter’s Mother- In-Law In the WEIRDEST Way Possible

Rev. Adriene Thorne is the newest pastrix of the historic Riverside Church in New York City, described on their website as “one of the leading voices of Progressive Christianity” and ”a forum for important civic and spiritual leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, President Clinton, the Dalai Lama, and countless others.”

An out-and-out pagan and theological whorette, we last wrote about her after she preached a sermon suggesting that God’s a racist, sexist, bigoted homophobe who really can’t be trusted, on account of declaring David a man after his own heart despite David ‘raping’ Bathsheba, intoning that she doesn’t trust his repentance one little bit.

In a recent sermon, she defends Harvard plagiarist Claudine Gay, saying the attacks that saw the former president resign from her post were little more than attempts to keep black women from achieving great things, and then compared Gay to the Apostle Peter’s mother-in-law in Luke 4:38-40, which reads:

Jesus left the synagogue and went to Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was very sick. She had a high fever. They asked Jesus to do something to help her. He stood very close to her and ordered the sickness to go away. The sickness left her, and she got up and began serving them.)

Thorne speculates:

“Maybe Simon’s mother-in-law, like many hardworking women and girls, found herself gas lit and told to be gracious and grateful; to smile more. To look pretty.

Could it be that Simon’s mother-in-law was (sick and) reeling from the realization that it was not enough for a woman, especially a melanated woman of the ancient near East, to simply be the human she understood herself to be, but that she had become a canvas for everyone else to speak their hate and vitriol?”

  1. The stupidity of this sermon is off the scale. There should be minimal intelligence standards for anyone in a pulpit.
