Disgraced Pastor Johnny Hunt To Headline Two Christian Conferences

Fresh off having been deemed fit to return to ministry, disgraced pastor Johnny Hunt has picked himself up a preaching gig, headlining the Springtime Jubilee Conference in Myrtle Beach on April 17-18, and also the Brandon, Missouri location on April 24-26, where he’ll be speaking at the three-day event with other Southern Baptist pastors. This includes Benny Tate, one of the men who “restored” him.

Six months ago, First Baptist Church of Woodstock formally suspended Pastor Emeritus Johnny Hunt, 69, after being accused of sexually assaulting another pastor’s wife a decade earlier.

You can read more about the details here, but 12 years ago, while on vacation with another pastor and his wife, Hunt is accused of making inappropriate comments about her body, such as her tan lines. He then maneuvered himself into her room, where he is alleged to have pinned her to the couch, got on top of her, forcibly removed her clothes, groped her, and put his hands and mouth on her breasts and body. She describes it as a sexual assault, and he says it was consensual. The church was never told, and it was only revealed after a Guidepost Investigation.

Hunt was mostly out of the public eye until last month when Great Commission Weekend conference organizer Timothy Pigg announced he disinvited disgraced pastor Johnny Hunt from being a speaker at his conference after offering him a preaching slot. His reason for disinviting him was that he did not “allow enough time to pass” from when Hunt was thrust into the forefront of public scrutiny six months ago after a Guidepost report named him at the center of a sexual abuse scandal until now.

His conference bio state:

In thirty-two years as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock, GA, Johnny Hunt has encountered many opportunities to share the gospel to hundreds of thousands of people per year. These years of ministry have allowed him to experience life to its fullest and pursue his passion for the Word of God and his family. Pastor Johnny leads an annual men’s conference that draws thousands and is now simulcast across the country.
