Eight months ago, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville partnered with a radical LGBTQ activist to come up with an insanely wicked and unbiblical idea; a ‘Transition Closet’ nestled within the church building. The plot was hatched at the church’s “queer-led queer-camp” and was simple; stock one of the rooms within the
church demon lair with all sorts of men’s and women’s clothing, along with chest binders and compression undergarments.
This was so that kids within the church and community could have a safe space to dress up and put on make-up and become their authentic selves, out of the harsh glare of their parents. Impastor Clint Schnekloth explained at the time:
“One part of this is simple human fun, the kind of thing we’ve all done in our lives: playing dress-up. Another part of this was identity affirming in ways I can hardly under-state. When you are with a group of people who are finally in a supportive community where they can put on clothes, try on make-up, experiment with looks, that finally match their gender identity, it’s more than just freeing and fun: it’s literally life-saving and liberation.”
The idea of The Transition Closet (TTC) has taken off and was recently found to be inhabiting an Oakland-based school, where teacher Tommy Martin-Edwards revealed that the closet is able to facilitate the gender transition of children behind parents’ backs.
“The goal of the transition closet is for our students to be able to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are.
And I use the idea that this is like Superman changing in a phone booth. But that idea actually goes a lot further than that. Because Superman isn’t Clark Kent. Clark Kent is actually the disguise. And when Clark Kent goes into the phone booth, he transforms into Superman, who is really just who he truly is, Kal-El. So this gives our trans students the opportunity to be the superheroes that we know they are”

The school is very supportive of the idea and loves the notion of a place where kids can wear drag without their parents knowing. As such, they will be working with TTC directly, which is actively looking to expand across schools worldwide. Along with the clothes, makeup, and propaganda videos about proper pronouns and reinforcing the joys of transitioning, The Transition House places a big emphasis on chest-binding, which can cause permanent physical pain and damage, but there is no word on whether this will be facilitated without the knowledge and consent of the parents.
For some reason though, we get the feeling it will.
