SBC’s International Mission Board (IMB) Mandating COVID Vaccines For Missionaries and their Children

The missionary sending unit of the Southern Baptist Convention has updated its policies for missionaries and staff members, requiring that all missionaries and children 16 years and older be vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, effective immediately, if they want to continue being missionaries with the SBC.

In a statement posted to their website, Julie McGowan, vice president of communications and public relations explains:

The IMB policy requires IMB missionaries and their children ages 16 and older to be vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to attending Field Personnel Orientation prior to their long-term field service; and IMB missionaries and their children ages 16 and older to be vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to attending Stateside Conference during their periodic return to the United States. Attendance at the two conferences is mandatory for missionaries before initial entry or return to a country of service. The policy also requires staff members who must interact with field personnel at Field Personnel Orientation and Stateside Conferences to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination. The policy is effective immediately.

She goes on to note that the organization already required other vaccinations, and this one would just be added to the list, as “IMB’s medical team and senior leadership team are adhering to precautions recommended by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC.)

While they are aware that they will invariably cause some missionaries to quit as a result, they are fully prepared for that option, noting that as an organization, they will “continue to seek the Lord’s wisdom as the organization navigates each difficult decision and as conditions continue to change.”

  1. Look here. The Judeo-Christian way of “loving your neighbor” is to get the vaccine. Stop being selfish!! Many smart conservatives like David French are telling you to get vaxxed? OK, so my appeal to morality isn’t working? Then consider this: Is this worth getting kicked out of your church? losing your job? Getting banned from concerts, airplanes, or churches? WE ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU GET VAXXED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. Stop being a baby or listening to Qanon. Do the right thing. Just get vaxxed already. It’s a Pubic Health situation NOT about private choice!!

    1. Yes, which is why I’m tired of the Judeo-Christian way of ‘loving your neighbor’, and would prefer to get back to just the Christian way. It’d be gravy on top if Christians got kicked out of their pozzed churches, lost their jobs with globohomocorps, never went to another MK-ULTRA-programmed pop concert, never annoyed people on the far side of the world with ‘mission trips’ that are more for fundraising than anything else and have the dollars:convert ratio to prove it, etc., etc. I do not see a downside.

      1. I concur! God will use this too to pull his truly elect from error; if there are any . SBC is pseudo christian and it boggles my mind that there are actually professing christians that dont know this.

  2. The only thing the SBC continues to mandate is their complete stupidity. This is not a vaccine. Wise up and look at the facts.

  3. And they’re also going to cause some missionaries to either die or suffer serious injury from this so-called vaccine.

A recent study showed that young boys are over 6 times more likely to be hospitalized from the so-called “vaccine” than the virus itself. Six times more likely.

How could anybody in their right mind mandate that healthy young people take a drug that is more likely to kill them than the virus it’s supposed to protect against? Talk about a reprobate, non-functioning mind, seared conscience, and love waxed cold.

I’m long past growing cold to the way wicked men seek to put themselves between God and you, and between what God is saying. You can’t missionize if God gave it to you to do you don’t follow our rule?

Consider this – does the preponderance of such rules come from godly saved people, or those never saved and who never have known the real God?

I’m far more concerned with having good churches and god fearing ones then I am with things like covid. It’s revealing the need for sure for Christians to separate themselves, but in my thinking all this nastiness in the world you are seeing is because real Christians are separating themselves from the false ones, and the false keep getting exposed.

It’s like trying to hide a spiritual thing occurring. Another major false doctrine widely goes down in front of everyone or false denomination does, and suddenly another panic or worldly problem. It just encourages me to talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ even more and show the false.

    1. Covid is separating the sheep from the tares in so many ways. I always believed I was in the ‘last generation ‘ but never in a million yrs would I have guessed it would look like this in the last hr.

  5. It is beyond my comprehension that the very messengers sent to share Christ with the world are now forced to carry with them the worst stain of America, the blood of aborted babies. Do they not know that most of the major manufacturers of this vaccine used aborted fetal cells in its development (HEK-293)?

Al Mohler says it’s okay for Christians to take it anyway because the harm has already been done, that it’s an older strain and we might as well have some “good” come from it. But there is no “good” to come from injecting any portion, regardless of how small or how old, of another murdered human into our bodies. Why aren’t Christians outraged by this? Has their fear completely blinded them to the reality of what they are taking into their bodies?

Yes, forced vaccinations are a violation of our human rights and in violation of the constitution. But far above and beyond those valid reasons for refusing forced vaccination is the atrocity of the ingredients of what is being injected. Why isn’t this part of the discussion? Especially for missionaries? The other valid arguments against forced injections are all concerning how we as humans are aggrieved, but when Christians take something into their bodies built on the structure of murdered innocent babies it is God who is aggrieved. This is the very definition of religious exemption. We do not believe in murdering babies for the greater medical good. We do not believe in taking their dead cells into our bodies. And we do not believe in offending the God who made those babies.

But now we have a Christian agency forcing it on their messengers as a pre-condition of sharing Christ? And one of their spokesmen telling us all that it’s completely acceptable to do so? Al Mohler does not believe in direct revelation from God but he somehow believes he can speak for Him. Al assures us that Pro-Life Christians can take the vaccine with legitimacy and that if they don’t then they don’t love their neighbors. He wants us to know God’s okay with it. But is God really?

  6. I left the SBC over wokeness and left the Salvation Army over vax pushing and wokeness. These are not the Christian Churches we grew up with. Never again.
