SBC Megachurch Pastor Praises Rank Heretics During His Easter Sermon
Church by the Glades in Coral Springs, FL, led by David Hughes, is the embodiment of instituting worldly entertainment in the pathetic hope of catching the attention of wayward goatlings and luring them into staying.
Known for their extravagant attempts to keep their members entertained, in the past few months alone, they played a cover of Run D.M.C’s sleazy and sexual song Walk this Way in church, performed Kendrick Lamar’s N95, only cleaned up and sanitized for church audiences, removing the curse words and racial epitaphs for a sermon illustration, put on a Willy Wonka Christmas worship service’ and put on crazy ‘Baby Shark’ mashup during service, replete with smoke and canons!
During their April 2023 Easter sermon, after the worship band entertains the goatlings with a cover song of The Weekend’s Blinding Lights, Hughes praises a series of rank heretics and false teachers as talented preachers, even recommending their ministries.
But am I the best preacher in America? Oh gosh. There are some of my colleagues. They’re just so gifted. You know Craig Groeschel and Steven Furtick and Priscilla Shirer and Christine Caine.
If you put a gun to my head and say ‘David, who’s the most talented preacher in this generation?’ I go probably T.D. Jakes. Yeah, Bishop Jakes in Dallas, his gifts are immense, his gifts with language, his charisma. By the way, if you haven’t heard Bishop, go watch Bishop sometime.
…. he’s so gifted. But God made Bishop to be Bishop, I can learn from him, be inspired by him, but I should never try to imitate him.
…How about Joel Olsteen? Joel Olsteen in Houston. Joel has a massive church. Now, Joel’s, you know, not the preacher I connect with, but I can’t deny his leadership. He’s very nice, by the way; he’s very happy. He smiles all the time. I met Joel one time; he seemed very authentic.
Of course, T.D. Jakes is a Trinity-denying Modalist who believes that Jesus isn’t the eternal third person of the Godhead but rather only a manifestation of the Father.
Furtick couldn’t exegete his way out of a paper bag, and as for Osteen, he believes that the good news of the gospel is that Jesus died to give you your best life now, filled with health and wealth and the riches of this universe.
That Hughes thinks these folk ought to be praised rather than roundly repudiated, shows that he ought to indeed ‘stay in his lane’, which is far from the pulpit.
Bread and circuses…
‘Walk this Way’ was written and performed by Aerosmith in the 70s. Run DMV just performed yet another cover
