ERLC President + PCA Director Sign Statement Against Trump Refugee Ban
Several Christian leaders have signed on to a statement critical of Trump’s recent executive order to temporarily suspend the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), with the Southern Baptist Convention’s lobbying arm leading the way.
Last week, Trump signed an executive order designed to combat the out-of-control immigration that has swamped the country, including by non-governmental organizations (NGO) that promote mass immigration and frequently rubber stamp bogus asylum claims, pending a full review to ensure they are aligned with the United State’s goals.
The United States lacks the ability to absorb large numbers of migrants, and in particular, refugees, into its communities in a manner that does not compromise the availability of resources for Americans, that protects their safety and security, and that ensures the appropriate assimilation of refugees. This order suspends the USRAP until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States.
It is the policy of the United States to ensure that public safety and national security are paramount considerations in the administration of the USRAP, and to admit only those refugees who can fully and appropriately assimilate into the United States and to ensure that the United States preserves taxpayer resources for its citizens.
Several Christian leaders have condemned the move and are raging at this new precaution. They have signed a statement drafted by World Relief against the order and calling for President Trump to return to the status quo. Some of the signatories include:
Angela Pacey, Director of PCA Mission to North America, Kaitlyn Schiess, Writer and Holy Post Podcast Host, Joel Rainey, Senior Pastor of Covenant Church, Raymond Chang, President of the Asian American Christian Collaborative, Dr. Walter Kim, President of the National Association of Evangelicals, and Brent Leatherwood, President of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission.
Deport them. Anyone who opposes deportation of illegal aliens should be deported with them, or sent to Guantanamo with the really bad illegals who are so bad Trump fears their country of origin can’t hold them in prison.
