Christ the Redeemer Lit in Pele shirt as Brazil Honors First Anniversary of his Death

(AP) Christ the Redeemer was lit up in a Pele shirt among Brazilian tributes to the soccer great on the first anniversary of his death on Friday. Pele died of colon cancer at age 82.

Christ the Redeemer had a projection of a Brazil shirt with Pelé’s name and number 10 and a message from Pope Francis. Pelé was a devout Catholic.

“Pelé, as Mr. Edson Arantes do Nascimento became globally known, was undoubtedly an athlete who showed in his life all positive traits of a sportsman,” the pontiff said in a letter as a local orchestra played. “The memory of ‘the King of Soccer’ remains indelible in the minds of many, and it stimulates new generations to seek in sport a means to strengthen the bonds of unity among us.”

  • Christian Parents Ask Supreme Court to Help After Gender-Confused Teen Taken Away from Them

Christian Parents Ask Supreme Court to Help After Gender-Confused Teen Taken Away from Them

(CBN) Two Indiana parents are seeking the intervention of the United States Supreme Court after the state’s Department of Child Services took their gender-confused child away from them due to their Biblical beliefs about sex and gender.

Mary and Jeremy Cox have filed a Petition for Writ of Certiorari asking the high court to review the removal of their son, who has identified as a girl, from their home because they did not use female names or pronouns when addressing their child.

“When our son was removed it was like someone pulled the rug from underneath us,” Jeremy shared in a video message. “As a father, I believe one of my main goals is to keep my children safe and I can’t do that when the state comes into our house and takes our kids because we can’t in good conscience affirm his transgender ideology.”

According to the Indiana Family Institute (IFI), in June 2021, the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) initiated an investigation of their home because they were not referring to their son with a cross-gender name and pronouns nor were they endorsing their child’s self-identification as a girl because of their Christian faith.

DCS pressed for the child’s removal from the home arguing, “We just feel that at this point in time, this child needs to be in a home that’s not going to teach her that trans, like everything about transgender… tell her how she should think and how she should feel. However, she should be in a home where she is (accepted) for who she is.”

The trial court removed the Cox’s son from the home and barred them from… to continue reading click here.

Utah is No Longer Majority Mormon, New Research Says

(ABC4) Since Utah became a state in the late 1800s, most of its residents have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But according to a new study, Utah isn’t majority Mormon anymore.

A paper published this month in the Journal of Religion and Demography estimates that the percentage of Utahns who identify as members of the LDS church, otherwise known as Mormons, is about 42%. That’s markedly lower than previous media reports citing the church’s numbers, which put the percentage of Mormons in Utah at around 60% as recently as 2020.

“We’re not trying to say that the LDS church is wrong, it’s just we’re using very different approaches to get to gather this information,” said Ryan T. Cragun, lead author on the study, who teaches sociology at the University of Tampa.

To get their numbers, Cragun and his fellow researchers contracted a survey of roughly 1,900 Utahns, with… to continue reading click here.

Oklahoma Representative Files Bill Requiring All Classrooms to Display Ten Commandments

(Koco) An Oklahoma state representative filed a bill Friday to require schools to display the Ten Commandments.

Rep. Jim Olsen, a Republican, filed House Bill 2962 to require every public school classroom in the state to hang a “durable poster or framed copy” of the Ten Commandments in a “conspicuous place.”

If passed, schools would be required to have the Ten Commandments in every classroom at the start of the 2024-25 school year.

In June, a group called the Oklahoma Advisory Committee on Founding Principles, which includes several religious leaders, made recommendations to the Oklahoma State Board of Education. Those recommendations included hanging a copy of the Ten Commandments… to continue reading click here.

  • The Liberal Media is Biased Because Just 3% of Reporters are Republicans

The Liberal Media is Biased Because Just 3% of Reporters are Republicans

(Life News) Shocker! Isaac Schorr at Mediaite reported a new study from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications found that just 3.4 percent of American journalists are Republicans. In the last ten years, the proportion of Democrats has increased to 36.4% and proportion of Independents has ticked upwards to 51.7%, while the already low Republican share has been cut in half.

The last study in 2013 pegged the proportion of Republican journalists in America at 7.1%, Democrats at 28.1%, and  Independents at 50.2%.

It’s fair to guess that journalists who choose “independent” are attempting to look nonpartisan, but we can safely guess a large share of them are Biden-Harris voters.

The study is based “on an online survey with 1,600 U.S. journalists conducted in early 2022” and is the latest in a series of studies stretching back to 1971 that take the temperature of the fourth estate’s partisan lean, job satisfaction, and professional attitudes.

When the first iteration of the study came out over 50 years ago, 35.5% of respondents said they were Democrats, 25.7% said they were Republicans, and 32.5% said they were Independents. The…to continue reading click here.

Ectopic Miracle! Woman Gives Birth to Baby That Implanted in Her Bowel

(Scripps News) A woman from Réunion Island in France went to the hospital with stomach cramps, only to find out she was pregnant with a baby growing in her bowel.

According to a report by the New England Journal of Medicine, the 37-year-old woman went to the emergency room complaining about stomach pain that had lasted 10 days. After doctors conducted an ultrasound, they found that she had an empty uterus and a 23-week abdominal pregnancy, which doctors classified as a “rare type of ectopic pregnancy.”

As you can see from the X-Ray below, it shows a fetus not within the uterus, but rather situated atop the uterus in the abdominal cavity.

THE NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE.

An ectopic pregnancy happens when a fertilized egg grows outside the uterus, and these are often found in a fallopian tube. However, abdominal pregnancies, like this one, are extremely rare and account for about 1% of ectopic pregnancies, according to the National Institutes of Health.

The NIH says these types of pregnancies pose a serious risk, with maternal mortality rates seven to eight times higher than tubal ectopic pregnancies.

Because of how risky this pregnancy is, the woman was transferred to a tertiary care hospital where they were able to care for her until doctors were able to deliver the baby via surgery at 29 weeks of gestation. to continue reading click here

Christian Mom Defends Her Faith, Sues Oregon for Preventing Adoption Because of Christian Beliefs

(Daily Citizen) All one Oregon mom wanted for Christmas was to welcome children from the foster care system into her family. Instead, she is suing the state of Oregon for religious discrimination.

Oregon is refusing to let Jessica Bates adopt foster siblings because her Christian beliefs about human sexuality. She believes boys and girls are biologically different and those differences are good and should be celebrated.

Oregon state officials say Bates is unfit to adopt or even participate in the foster system because she will not agree to use preferred pronouns or assist a child in a gender transition. Last week, Bates filed a notice of appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals after the lower court ruled against her. The case is Bates v. Pakseresht.

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is representing Bates in the matter.

Coordinated Attack sees 160 Christians Massacred in Nigeria, Including Baptist Pastor and 9 Family Members

Christian Daily InternationalMorning Star News) – Terrorists massacred 160 people, many of them preparing for church Christmas programs, Saturday night (Dec. 23) through Monday (Dec. 25) in coordinated attacks on predominantly Christian areas in Plateau state, Nigeria, sources said.

Church pastors were killed and hundreds of houses were destroyed in the massacres in villages of Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu counties, officials and residents said. The assailants killed the Rev. Solomon Gushe of Baptist Church in Dares village along with nine of his family members, said Bokkos County resident Dawzino Mallau.

“Some pastors were killed, and another pastor and his wife and five children were killed during these attacks,” Mallau told Christian Daily International-Morning Star News in a text message. “These terrorists who attacked these Christian communities were in the hundreds, and they carried out the attacks as the hapless Christians were preparing for Christmas programs lined up by their pastors.”

Most of the Christians killed were women, children and the elderly unable to escape, he said.

Alfred Mashat, another resident of the Bokkos area, said hundreds of houses were destroyed.

“About 160 Christians in these villages were killed by the terrorists,” Mashat said in a text message to Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “We believe they are carrying out these attacks alongside armed Muslim Fulani herdsmen.”

  • Church of England Re-Opens Disciplinary Case Against Vicar For Calling Trans Priest ‘a bloke’

Church of England Re-Opens Disciplinary Case Against Vicar For Calling Trans Priest ‘a bloke’

(Christianconcern) The Church of England (CofE) re-opened an investigation into one of its former clergy for calling a transgender priest ‘a bloke’ in a YouTube vlog.

Rev. Brett Murphy, 38, was on the receiving end of a coordinated campaign resulting in a record four Clergy Disciplinary Measures (CDM) being brought against him. On his YouTube channel, Rev. Murphy discusses weekly news from a Christian Orthodox Anglican perspective.

A CDM is a formal procedure for handling allegations of serious misconduct by clergy within the CofE. If a CDM is upheld by the presiding Bishop, it is kept on a clergy’s ‘blue file’ and can lead to rebukes, dismissal and prevent further employment within the CofE.

While leading St. David’s Church in Coalville, Leicestershire, Rev. Murphy had four CDMs upheld by the diocesan registrar for:

    • Misgendering the CofE’s first transgender Archdeacon, Rev. Rachel Mann.
    • Social media posts criticizing prayers put forward for the King’s coronation by the same Archdeacon that aligned with witchcraft and described Jesus as ‘our sister’.  The complaint was anonymous.
    • Expressing concern over the teaching of marriage and human sexuality in UK schools in a sermon.
    • Not visiting a member of the public in hospital who no longer attended his church. Rev. Murphy was not notified the man was in hospital or even sick.

With support from the Christian Legal Centre, each CDM brought against him was dismissed by the Bishop of Loughborough, the Rt Revd Saju Muthalaly. However, the CDM was re-opened against Rev. Murphy on the grounds of the first point above: that he described the CofE’s first transgender archdeacon, Rachel Mann, as a ‘bloke’.

In July 2023, Rev. Murphy left.. to continue reading click here.
