Survey: Shocking number of Roman Catholic Clergy Say ‘All the great religions of the world are equally good and true’

A shocking number of professing Christian clergy “completely agree” that “All the great religions of the world are equally good and true,” according to a new survey from researcher Ryan Burge.

Burge initially shared his results then requested a community note after making an error in the weighted values of the Catholic clergy. As a result, we have created a new graphic with the proper results.

While the vast majority of evangelical clergy hold to a biblical perspective, Black Protestants from such groups as the AME, AME ZION, CME, NBC, NBCA, and COGIC trailed significantly, followed by mainline churches like the UMC, UCC, PCUSA, ELCA, TEC, DOC, ABCUSA, and finally the Roman Catholics.

Burge also included a survey about what percentage of clergy from Christian denominations believed it was important to share the gospel and proselytize, with evangelical leaders against carrying the day and Roman Catholic and mainline church leaders being the least likely to agree.
