Is Neeza Powers Lying to Everyone About His Age, Backstory and Transition?

Neeza Powers has been making headlines for several months now. Born male, he spent years living as a trans woman before detransitioning in mid-2025. Shortly thereafter, he found faith, became a Christian, and has been documenting his journey as a new believer in a series of Instagram videos and Reels, garnering him hundreds of millions of views and interactions.

These include posts such as “First time going to church,” “Day 13 of being a Christian,” and “Going to a men’s Bible study for the first time.” While some criticized his documentarian approach, they were well received.

In search of a new church home, Neeza documented his visits to multiple congregations, including Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB), Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, and eventually Roman Catholic.

His journey caught the attention of many, and he was booked for big interviews with multiple Christian content creators, including Isabel Brown (who called him “the most effective evangelizer on the internet”) and Lila Rose.

As a result of his newfound fame and interest, he also started a Christian clothing company with his sister and began partnering with the Hallow App.

Neeza ultimately settled on the Catholic Church, where he has been taking OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) classes—also known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults).

He plans to enter full communion with the Roman Catholic Church this coming Easter, when he will be baptized and receive his confirmation and first Communion.

But there are some deep, deep problems here, and not everything is as it seems.

Notably, it’s important to understand that Neeza has purged, privatized, and deleted much of his social media content, particularly pre-conversion, save for a few pictures, and especially everything before 2018. We’re indebted to @mableinvestigate on TikTok, who started archiving content as soon as he started posting, but it also means that folks who seek sourcing on a video we post may find that it’s been deleted and is no longer there.

THE GIRLFRIEND LIE Throughout the entire period when Neeza was uploading content, he constructed a deceptive and duplicitous narrative about the timeline of his relationship with his girlfriend, Charlotte.

He released more than a dozen videos in which he pretended they had only recently met and were just beginning to date. In these clips, he awkwardly asked her questions like whether she wanted children someday, filmed preparations for dates, and showed himself picking her up from her house—all presented as if they were in the early stages of a brand-new relationship.

This fabricated storyline collapsed when internet sleuths uncovered a since-deleted Facebook post from 2021 announcing their relationship, proving the whole thing was a sham.

The rising scrutiny prompted Neeza to post an apology video on November 11, in which he admitted to the deception. While Initially claiming he had met her just a few months earlier, he eventually revealed that they had actually been together for five years—during the time when he was living as a woman and she identified as a lesbian.

Neeza explained that he had altered these details to shield her from the intense public scrutiny he was facing—scrutiny she had never signed up for. He also argued that because she was a lesbian when they first met, (Charlotte was dating another woman who was a social media influencer in 2017, and she would help her with her vlogs and media, setting up camera shots and so forth) she had never known him as a man, so in a sense, they were truly dating “for the first time.”

However, this was not merely lying by omission. It was a sustained, proactive campaign to mislead his audience. Neeza did not have to feature her in his videos at all, and no one on social media would have known about their relationship if he hadn’t deliberately chosen to introduce her into his public narrative, and then lie about it over and over again.

SHACKING UP WITH CHARLOTTE

Their five-year relationship has naturally sparked curiosity about their dynamic and living arrangements. Despite repeatedly claiming that he and Charlotte maintained separate homes—and reinforcing this impression by posting videos that celebrated her coming over to his house to cook him meals—Neeza revealed on November 16 that they have actually been living together for years.

Furthermore, he disclosed that they plan to continue cohabiting until they are married in the Catholic Church.

Addressing those who might be concerned about this arrangement, he assured viewers that they are “choosing to have separate rooms and honor God until that happens.”

CONFLICTING STORIES OF A TRANSGENDER TEEN

Neeza’s childhood testimony on becoming a trans teen sounds straightforward and simple, until it appears he’s offering everyone a different story, putting forth contradictory accounts of his life experiences and his journey into becoming a trans woman. The story changes from one video or podcast to the next, making it impossible to form a single cohesive narrative. Still. however, this is the gist of it.

Powers—now 29—says he was mercilessly bullied in high school at age 14 and thrown into trash cans because he was a boy on the cheer leading team. He claims he was targeted for being “feminine and flamboyant 4’9″ boy who liked to wear purses.”

High school was hell; he had no friends, save for some girls on the cheer leading team, and he would come home every day miserable. Notably, he recalls watching iCarly as a child, calling it one of his favorite shows.

Because he was bullied so severely and wanted to transfer to a different school, he visited a counselor. The counselor suggested that he might actually be a girl, pointing out that—like his girlfriends—he enjoyed dancing, listening to One Direction, and doing hair and makeup.

He and his parents traveled to Canada and other states to find experts knowledgeable about the transition process. He notes that the TV show I Am Jazz, which follows child transitioner Jazz Jennings, helped his parents understand that he wasn’t the only one who was transgendered.

Neeza began transitioning in high school at age 16 in the late 2000s, and it was during this time that he prescribed puberty blockers. Dressing up as “Nicole,” he would put on women’s clothing and attend parties in different towns where no one knew him. At these parties, he says he was openly accepted. He shared in an Oct 10 video:

“Pop culture really got the best out of me this week. I watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and was flooded with happy memories of being a 16 year old boy, beginning my transition to become a girl, going shopping at Victoria’s Secret Pink with all of my friends, collecting those little pink dogs, getting my first bra, shopping those pajamas and sweatpants that said ‘pink’ on the butt. You know, this was my childhood, this was my formative years, and I didn’t realize that the enemy uses nostalgia as his finest weapon. Yes, that was my upbringing, but that is not my forever home or my identity. My identity lies in Christ.”

After graduation, Neeza went to college at Florida State University, where he started taking estrogen at age 19. Here, he lived as a woman, being what he believed was his true self.

He revealed that he had four boyfriends during this period, until he met Charlotte in 2025, who was his first girlfriend. (Which we now know actually occurred in 2021)

On an episode of the Meet Your Inner Child podcast, Neeza explains that while he sometimes says he lived as a woman for “10 years,” from 19 to 29, it was more like 12—and in reality, “it’s probably 14 [or] 15.” And according to him, people could barely, if ever, tell.

This, however, is allegedly entirely fabricated. According to Mable and other critics, Neeza is not actually 29 years old, and Ebenezer (or Neeza) is not his real name.

THE BIG LIE

For the last eight months, Powers has gone by the name Ebenezer, which he has shortened to “Neeza.” He asserts that this new name, “Ebenezer,” was “given to him by God” once he became saved. However, he continues to use the nickname Neeza, explaining that he changed his name from “Nicole” to Neeza as a way to cast off his old identity and transself.

When pressed about his birth name and why he doesn’t simply revert to it, Powers responds that he won’t go back because “I wasn’t born-again then.” This reluctance to reveal it makes sense if it could in some way conflict with his testimony, which critics say it does.

His birth name is Thomas Ryan Powers, or Tommy for short.

Despite Neeza claiming in multiple videos that he is 29 years old and grew up in the late 2000s, critics have found public records in the Tampa Bay Times purporting to be his, revealing he was born on June 12, 1989, not 1996 as he has claimed, making him 36 years old.

They also found pictures of Neeza as a baby, in an image that does NOT like it was taken in 1996, but rather years before.

Despite claiming to have begun transitioning in his teens, taking puberty blockers, shopping for bras, and socially transitioning, pictures from this time period provided by Mabel portray him as an ordinary-looking young man.

Here is Neeza in 2006, at the age of 17:

Older still:

During his high school graduation, he does not appear to have transitioned.

After high school, Powers went to Florida State University, but he also did not transition in college either. Here is Thomas in 2015, a year before he graduated, at a time he claimed he was taking estrogen and fully living and looking like a woman.

And again:

And again:

According to the FSU 2016 graduation commencement program, Thomas Ryan Powers graduated with a degree in women’s studies.

In the fall of 2017, he STILL appears to have not transitioned, despite being 28 years old, a year younger than he claims to be now.

MORE DAMNING EVIDENCE: IN HIS OWN WORDS

Neeza ultimately did transition, but not in the way one might expect. An athlete in high school and university, he did not adopt the typical talking points associated with trans athletes, beating up and dominating women’s leagues. Instead, he was featured in a Fox News article (as well as NY Post) in 2024 for specifically refusing to play golf against women, which he rightly notes would be unfair.

He frequently shared right-wing views on Twitter, even getting the attention of Nancy Mace.

Neeza has had these convictions for a while, but revealed more on the Business Party Podcast, streamed live on 12 Feb 2023. In a damning indictment, Neeza explicitly says that he did NOT transition in his teens, but rather when he was in his late twenties.

When the host asked Neeza what made him want to do the change and transition, and whether or not he waited till a certain age, he responded:

So like, okay, so that’s a big topic right now. What I’m really adamant on is that you need to wait until your brain is fully formed before you know what you’re gonna do in your life. Like sure, you know, I’m not gonna lie and say that 12 13 14 years old, I had thoughts that something was different. But I said in one of my videos, I was too busy like playing sports and making friends and worrying about school and you know innocent kid stuff. I’m not over here waiting for my blue-haired teacher to tell me that I need to be on hormone blockers- or puberty blockers. I wasn’t waiting for that. I was just like, ‘okay, when’s the next tennis tournament or when am I going to go to the beach with my friends?’ I did feel those things, but I was too busy worrying about things that a kid should worry about. And then when my brain started to fully develop at 25, 26 years old, I had thought, ‘is this an undertaking that I want to take?’

He continues:

I remember sitting in a restaurant with a friend of mine in law school. And I was like, ‘God, you know,I could probably live happy the rest of my life and not go through a transition.’ But, you know,it was almost like a, why not… it was kind of just like picking. ..I didn’t really know what all went into it. Like, you know, and that’s what these kids don’t know for sure is that it’s not happiness and rainbows. Like you’re going to be discriminated against, and that’s okay, because this is not the normal path to life. You know, you are going to have a hard time. Not forever maybe. Maybe you’ll have your own business one day or get a great job and a family and everything like that. But there are medical risks, there are social risks. You know, I was 25, 26 years old and still I didn’t grasp it all until I actually dove head first and started doing it.

Neeza affirms that he was 33 years old at the time of the filming of the podcast and concludes by noting that he loves the USA because of how free and safe it is for trans people, and that he would not transition if he lived elsewhere.

If that was the case, I would not transition in those countries. I would have made the decision, the survival decision in me to depending on whatever is going through my head, I’ll probably continue on doing what I’m doing. But I live in the greatest country in the world and this is what I felt was gonna be best for my survival when I did it, you know, without taking advantage of anyone else and and I did it as a fully consenting adult and I don’t understand what’s changed? Why do we need why do we need more? Like fully consenting adults can do fully consenting adult things. Let’s continue to do that.

Given the timeline, rather than transitioning as a 16 year girl, and all the lies he’s seemingly told about that, Neeza looks to have transitioned in early 2018, as a 29 year old man, which are when the first pictures of him in this garb start to appear.

ODDS AND ENDS AND SCIENTOLOGY

During his many testimonies and interviews, Neeza references watching iCarly as a kid, his parents watching I Am Jazz as a way to understand their trans child, and that One Direction was a band that his girlfriends liked to listen to, and which was instrumental to his diagnosis.

Yet iCarly first aired in late 2007, when Neeza was 18. One Direction made their debut in 2010, when he was 21, and I Am Jazz came out in 2015, when he was already 26 years old.

Despite being a complete newbie to Christianity, knowing nothing and claiming to be raised in a completely non-religious household, including extending as far as his parents, grandparents, and other extended family, Neeza revealed that he has gone to a youth group a few times in his teens, though how many times is unclear.

Furthermore, in posts on social media his mother says that she attends church and can be seen praying for a family friend. While we don’t know if she was attending during his childhood, it’s of note.

Lastly, in a super awkward encounter during an interview, Neeza, who has previously shared that he spent time “looking into every major world religion,” reveals that he was involved in Scientology for several years. When questioned by the host however, Neeza struggles to remember any details.

CONCLUSION

There are more things we could talk about—other inconsistencies that we’ve found—but that’s probably sufficient for now. The big question remains: Why did he do it? Why does he seemingly continue to lie over and over despite his videos seeming to show a realistic portrayal of someone growing in sanctification?

We don’t want to speculate, but it’s worth noting that Neeza released many videos before his newbie Christianity series, after he had already begun the process of detransitioning. These videos consisted of nature walks and featured him frolicking through the forests while gushing that the water, earth, sun, and stars were transforming his mind and helping him realign his mindset from woman to man.

These videos—all since deleted, though some were archived by others—did not perform well and were hardly seen by anyone.

But his journey as a new Christian? Hundreds of millions of views. Social media clout. Business opportunities. Gushing affection. That may be a reason to keep things going.

If nothing else, Neeza Powers/Thomas Ryan Powers, for his continued practice of ongoing and unrepentant deception, should be in desperate fear for his soul, and we should all be praying for him.

The fact that he is converting to ROMAN CATHOLICISM not Christianity, tells me all I need to know. I don’t even need to know he lied for years. – Sorry, and everything in this article alone shows he is not having fruit bearing with repentance.

People constantly throw around grifter wrongly, but this is what a real grifter looks like. Someone who does not believe what they say, and does what they do for clout or money or both. This sounds like what is described in this article, Neeza(Thomas) changed his story when they, likely, found out they could jump on the detrans train and seeing how gullible most Christians are, its an easy sell.

Protestants don’t even seem to know what protestant means, and they don’t get why we consider RC to be heretical. Mass idolatry, worship of mary, salvation by works, the list goes on and on. For Luther, it was mostly selling indulgences, but Christians today, ones who I even believe are truly saved, are totally ignorant of this. Why leave Catholicism and reject it if it is fine? Which hundreds of thousands have left for the heretical beliefs I named above.

Those things, I outlined, which are in this article, blatantly show, that there is no actual conversion to Christianity. So unless he has real change and repentance, he is nothing more than a liar who stopped wearing dresses.
