Baptist Church Claps and Cheers as Pastor Says ‘Evil’ and Racist’ Charlie Kirk is Likely in Hell

St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church is a small church in New Orleans, LA, that is sparsely populated with a couple dozen octogenarians. It is led by Rev. Marc J. Boswell, who earned an M.Div. from Union Presbyterian Seminary. According to his church bio:

A student of liberation theologies, Marc’s ministry and academic work have focused on the church’s pursuit of justice and healing in solidarity with the marginalized. He turns frequently to the writings of liberation theologians and the Christian mystics, along with the writings from Buddhist and Jewish traditions.

Fully LGBTQ inclusive, thee church is affiliated with the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, as well as the American Baptist Churches U.S.A.

During his recent sermon, Rev. Boswell attacked the notion that the recently assassinated Charlie Kirk was a Christian, much less a Christian martyr, saying in part:

As the last several days have rolled on, more and more documentation has emerged about the vile and the despicable things that this man has championed and said over the years. For instance, he has often said that women should be submissive to their husbands and that feminism is a corrosive influence on our civilization. On the subject of race, he is on the record saying that Martin Luther King Jr. was, quote, an awful man and, quote, not a good person. Y’all, the Klan doesn’t wear hoods anymore.

Stating that “Charlie Kirk represents everything that is corrupt and wrong with Christianity in America” and that he has now “wasted his life,” after being “killed by the hatred that he has fomented in the hearts and minds of millions of young people across our country,” he concludes of Kirk:

If we spend our lives advocating for hatred, we can surely say, ‘Lord, Lord’, but Christ will surely say back, ‘I never knew you.’ If we fail to care for our neighbor, we can say, ‘Lord, Lord’, but Christ will say, ‘I did not know you.’ If we seek to villainize and do people harm, if we take the name of God in vain by attaching it to our hatred, we can cry out, ‘Lord, Lord,’ until we’re blue in the face or until the cows come home, but Christ will most certainly say back to us, ‘I never knew you.’

This morning, y’all, my disappointment and my frustration lies in the fact that I see the ways that we all try in our own ways here at this church to show the world a different type of Christianity, one that is certainly less harmful and is a lot more loving.

And it is then disappointing and frustrating when people lack the moral clarity to see the wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. And if I have to say anything to Charlie Kirk. May you rest in peace. But brother Charlie, you’ve given me lot of reasons to wonder if Jesus even knows who you are. Amen?

More lies and false accusations. The points made about MLK have nothing to do with race. His theology was extremely wrong and unbiblical. He was an adulterer who led a very wicked private life. And such things need to be pointed out, so the younger generations are not misled. He did great and good things, but he was a terrible example in other ways, and should not be revered as some sort of messiah figure or example for young people to follow in all ways. He was not Jesus.

Now, he has conveniently ignored the full scripture he referenced, and twisted it to mean the complete opposite. Does he not know the meaning of the word “LORD” ??

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. …. And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you WORKERS OF LAWLESSNESS.’” – Matt. 7:21-23

What it doesn’t say … “depart from me, you who hurt others’ feelings”, “depart from me, you who disobeyed my Father”, “depart from me, you of whom the wicked world disapproved”

Another such “pastor” referenced the Sermon on the Mount, completely skipping and ignoring the entire meaning and purpose of the message, given in Matt. 5:17-20.

These false prophets speak as if Jesus was some sort of anarchist who went around justifying sin, supporting sin, advocating for sin, in rebellion against the Father.

What this “pastor” is really saying is that God is hateful, and that His commandments are hateful, mean, unloving, and uncaring. He himself is working lawlessness (“iniquity”).

He speaks of loving your neighbor, but skips the first and foremost commandment to love the Lord thy God …

“2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” – 1 John 5:2-4

Is it not God who says what is and is not loving? Or does this “pastor” think he knows how to love others better than God knows? If you love them, then you call them to repentance. You don’t tell them “yeah, God is a meanie”. You don’t tell them, as the Deceiver told Eve, that God is the one who’s lying to them.
