Woman Publicly Rebukes LGBTQ Artist at Gospel Concert ‘You’re going against the Word of God!’

A young woman interrupted a gospel concert and publicly condemned everyone in attendance, including the event organizers, for inviting a gay and effeminate artist to perform.

The 2026 Homecoming Gospel Concert was held at the University of Maryland ES and featured artists such as Tye Tribbett*, Preston Jonzell, and B. Slade.

B. Slade (Anthony Charles Williams II), also known as Tonéx, is a Grammy-nominated, Gospel Music Award-winning performer and former pastor. No stranger to controversy, he divorced his wife and came out as gay in 2009. He routinely performs in extremely flamboyant and effeminate attire, including a buss down wig.

During the event, while B. Slade was performing with a long wig,(seen below) several people walked out, but a majority stayed.

After his performance ended, the young woman took the stage and said the Lord gave her something to say. She proceeded to read from 1 Corinthians 5:9–12, about not associating with folks who call themselves Christian but are sexually immoral, then rebuked both the audience and the event organizers, saying in part:

“So if you all call yourselves Christian, and you guys can approve of that man coming up on stage and wearing a wig, thinking you can praise Jesus in buss down? (a type of wig) Let me tell you…what being effeminate means. It is a man that dresses like a woman…so if you guys accept that, you’re going against the word of God.”

Midway through, her mic was cut and Mary Mary’s song “Go Get It” was played.

*By way of some Christian lore: In 2009, Tribbett was caught and then admitted to having an affair with one of the members of his choir, Greater Anointing (G.A.). This was the same woman he and his wife Shanté had counseled and grown close to.

In response, Shanté retaliated by having an affair with Christian artist Da’ T.R.U.T.H., who was a friend and collaborator. Tribbett’s marriage ultimately survived, but Da’ T.R.U.T.H.’s didn’t, divorcing a few years later.
