Ghanaian-Canadian social commentator and former community liaison at the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, Samuel Sey (@SlowToWrite), has been arrested and is being held by ICE, according to an alert by the Butler County Jail.
Sey, whose work has been featured on The Daily Wire, Christian Post, and The Blaze, was born in Ghana and moved to Canada as a child; he has lived in Ohio since early 2022.
According to a booking sheet, he was arrested Wednesday afternoon, and the charge description is that he’s on a “Hold for ICE.”

It is unclear at this point in time WHY he was detained, but according to multiple sources on X, Samuel Sey’s hold for ICE arises NOT from a deliberate contravention of the law, but rather from a paperwork/clerical issue they are seeking to quickly resolve. Protestia publisher David Morrill speculated on X:
It’s highly unlikely that Samuel Sey, who has written extensively about the righteousness of borders and immigration enforcement, has been knowingly violating immigration laws. My money’s on this being a misunderstanding.
Keep this brother and his family in your prayers.
