New details have emerged regarding the alleged child abuse committed by bestselling Christian author Heather Thompson Day and her husband Seth Day, following their arrest late last month, with the latter accused of molesting his own daughter.
Authors of the bestselling book I’ll See You Tomorrow, both Seventh-day Adventists, were arrested and charged with “injury to a child, elderly or disabled individual with intent to cause bodily injury,” with husband Seth being singled out for sexual assault of a child, and now we know why.
According to arrest affidavits, the investigation began after their daughter told a teacher that she had been physically abused by her father following an altercation. Police met with her and found lacerations to her face and neck, as well as bruising. She told officers that he had hit her in the face and body with her cell phone. According to Child Protective Services, multiple reports were made against the couple over the years, with the last one a month prior. Adventist Today reports:
“The affidavits also allege that Heather Day was present and aware of the incident but did not intervene. The victim reportedly told investigators that Heather knew about previous injuries as well, but did not report them. She allegedly attempted to conceal the injuries by having the victim wear a face mask and telling medical professionals that she did not know how they had occurred.”
Both Seth and Heather were initially charged for the assault, the former with injury to a child and the latter with allowing the assault to happen. If convicted, third-degree felonies carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
While in jail for the assault, however, Seth was charged with sexual assault, a first-degree felony. Spectrum Magazine reports:
“According to the newly released documents, the Days’ daughter had told local hospital staff that on September 22, the same day of the alleged physical assault, “[Seth Day] engaged in sexual intercourse with [her] on her bed.”
While describing the alleged incident to investigators, the complaint states that she “was very timid about details and stipulated to the details of the sexual assault as ‘yucky.’”
The daughter also described the location of a bottle of lubricant her father allegedly used in the assault. A search warrant later located the lubricant in his bathroom.
“Additionally, when investigators scanned the daughter’s bedroom with a black light, they reported additional evidence that corresponded with how she described the assault. The report states law enforcement “were unable to reasonably conclude” that what they found was from “any normal or ‘regular’ activity of a child her age.”
The Days have strenuously denied the allegations, saying the injuries on her face were caused by an autoimmune disorder, a claim which investigators reject. During a court appearance, Heather Day could be seen falling to the floor in tears on multiple occasions, insisting “This is not true!” while insisting that her daughter is making things up because she has mental health problems.

Ooo.. My! But why would a child make such allegations up ?
[…] Horrific New Details Emerge In Heather and Seth Days’ Child Abuse Case […]
If the information made public thus far is all the evidence they have, then it’s not enough to secure a conviction. Some of it could actually work against investigators, if no reasonable effort was made to pursue evidence that could be exonerating. For example, if they found all that fluid with the blacklight, then why did they not test it to determine what it was, and if applicable for DNA? (and if they did, then what relevance is the specific use of a blacklight). Did the hospital examine the young woman? How would a cell phone cause lacerations? Bruises sure, but what cell phone has sharp edges enough to make a cut? How do you even hit someone with a cell phone? It’s short, lightweight. Investigators may also have a hard time proving the bruises came from blows. Women bruise easily to begin with, and if she does have a medical condition that makes her bruise more easily, and the investigators are ignoring that potentially exonerating evidence, they further harm their case. Several things don’t yet quite add up.
There isn’t enough public information for me personally to be able to draw any reasonable conclusions. Not saying the evidence doesn’t exist, but if they want a conviction, I believe they will need more and stronger evidence that conclusively proves the alleged crimes occurred and conclusively ties him to those crimes beyond any reasonable doubt.
I’m glad to see somebody somewhere still cares enough to bother to investigate anything at all these days. But they’ve still got quite a bit of investigating to do, imo
You do realize that prosecutors don’t lay out their entire case for the public? It is exactly because of people like you that have to armchair quarterback their every move like you are personally involved in the investigation or prosecution.
Good grief. Calm down woman.
What I wrote is the opposite of being an armchair quarterback. The armchair quarterbacks are the ones who try to render verdicts without having all the information.
So maybe the extra needed investigation has already been done, and the additional evidence sufficient to convict has been obtained. We don’t know that, now do we?
There’s no reason to have a conniption and start a quarrel over whether or not they yet have enough evidence. The fact remains, they’ll need more than what is publicly known – which I clearly stated
Presumption of innocence in legal contexts is essentially a commandment of God. Scripture demands it. Diligent inquiry must be done. Guilt must be proved. And we must respect this fact.
People falsely accuse all the time. It happens every day. Not everyone who makes an accusation is telling the truth. Right. Accusations must be proved.
You’ve somewhat falsely accused me right here and now, Susan.
Now if I point out the fact that there isn’t YET enough evidence to convict, how is that hurting the prosecution’s case? Lazily taking a weak and incomplete case to court is no way to seek or achieve justice. To do so would just make an acquittal more likely. If I point out giant holes in the case ahead of time, that they may not see, then they can do something to strengthen their case, can they not?
There’s no call or need to go flying off the handle. It is not going to be adjudicated here or anywhere else on the internet. We don’t render the verdict, and that’s exactly the point … so calmeth thyself down …
SMH
I’ll anger every rabid feminist on the planet with this truth, and maybe you also, but Susan it was not you that responded to me, it was your hormones.
And you instinctively want to protect the children. The father is a strong man. The child is a young and female weaker vessel. So your hormones say you need to automatically side with the young woman.
But the truth is that young women lie and falsely accuse all the time. Rebellious teenagers lie about their parents all the time.
It happens …
Scripture demands diligent inquiry. We don’t convict people of crimes and throw them in jail because we have a feelin’. Right. We’ve got to have concrete evidence.
We don’t put people in jail because we feel like one fits into an “oppressor” category and the other fits into an “oppressed” category. The false religion of critical theory has infected you more than you realize.
This is exactly why women are not to lead. You are beautiful and precious creatures who God loves and created. A perfect compliment to men. But your hormones, emotions, maternal instincts (which God gave you for a very good reason), get the better of you.
It’s the truth. Now all the rabid feminists will have a hysterical conniption fit in response to what I just said, and to what scripture says, and thereby prove it correct …
Meanwhile, there is the matter of her mother who has also been accused. She deserves due process also. Her guilt must also be proved.
I will also add, Susan, for you and all women reading, what the scripture says.
Any man who pretends to disagree with what I just wrote, who pretends to disagree with what scripture says, is the same sort of man who just wants to get into your pants.
Such men are described in Jude, 2 Pet. 2, and other passages. They’re the sort who sneak into women’s houses …
Many of you want a man who agrees with you, if not submits to you. And that’s the last thing you need …
God’s created order exists. It is reality.
We are all of equal value to Him. But equal does not mean “the same as”. Men cannot do the work of women. Women cannot do the work of men. And a part of the work of men is to correct you when your hormones are going berserk, and you’re being a hysterical over-reacting, emotional train wreck.
It’s the truth …
The armchair quarterback is the one who is sure the parents are guilty without having sufficient evidence to substantiate that verdict they’ve adjudicated and handed down via the internet …
You, my dear Susan, are being the armchair quarterback. I appreciate you and reading your comments here, as I know many also do. And I also appreciate any who would correct me, even when I may take issue with it. I’m certainly not always right. There’s only one who is always right, and I’m not Him. I look forward to reading the comments of others, and frequently check the articles. I’m not trying too slam you. Just speaking the truth, perhaps from a different perspective …
I don’t often appeal to movies or any works of mankind. But it’s a bit like when some monster is coming after everybody, and they’re all trying to be quiet, but some woman is so overcome with emotion she can’t stop from screaming. And she gets them all killed.
We’re all shouting at the screen, “shut up woman!” … but she just can’t
There’s a good bit of truth underlying such depictions. Truth that reflects the reality of God’s created order. It’s the way women are wired. You know it’s true.
