Glendale Baptist Church is a small Baptist church nestled in the suburbs of Nashville, TN. Associated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Alliance of Baptists, they are led by co-pastors Zach Helton and Kelly Moreland Jones.
According to Helton’s church bio, he is “deeply shaped by the teachings of Jesus, Buddhist practice, mysticism, and perennial wisdom over any particular religious expression.”
In a recent sermon, after explaining that God had a wife named Asherah before the biblical authors concealed her identity, Helton condemns King Josiah for destroying the idols and statues of false gods during his reign, lamenting the impact it would have on young Israelite girls who needed a feminine deity to look up to.

My mouth is still wide open. God had a “wife?!” And the Asherah idols and poles should have remained, but big, bad Josiah took them down because it would have strengthen women???? May God have mercy on this earth He created for the blasphemy being “preached” and the people sitting silently in the pews. The American Church has been so dumbed down to not know or study the Bible anymore that I will just about guarantee you that no one moved or left and not anything was said

Manny baptist churchs would not agree with what this baptist church teaches.Would they ? the problem is their are now newer generations of people that have been born that are not familar with any christian churchs.So they might assume all baptist churvhs teach like this one..Which would be annoying too baptist people who teach way different . Baptist have the same problem that way luherans have. Any one can call their teaching Lutheran or Baptist . And there not much we can do about it .except try explaining it all .or give them a website that does the beliefs of the church body that the person trying to find out can go to..About more traditional Beliefs on either Lutheran or Baptist or methodist or what ever the denomination a person is seeking out to learn anout.

Im a member of a confessional evangelical Lutheran Conference Church body .Celc lutheran org , for those who want to check it out . celc teachings are a lot different than the church body mentioned in this article.
