A progressive church in Michigan has teamed up with a Christian ministry to take working and broken guns off the street, offering folks willing to trade in their wares up to $200 in Kroger gift cards.
St. Paul’s Church in Jackson, MI, is part of the Episcopal Church denomination. They recently teamed up with
to coax gun owners to turn in their weapons in exchange for gift cards ranging from $50 to $200.
It is unclear how many guns were turned in.

The church claims their purpose for the buyback is to protect children from unwanted death from firearms, but given the church and denomination is pro-choice, it’s safe to say the loss of life and murder of children from violence is not really on their priority list.
Jessica Reinstra, congregation liaison for Disarmory Ministries, told WILX:
We’re just one piece of the puzzle. We’re not pretending that this is the answer to all gun violence. We’re just doing our little part and we feel that there’s many pieces to the puzzle so we encourage everybody to do their part.
