Progressive Church Holds Gun Buyback Event To Tackle Violence and ‘Unnecessary’ Deaths

A progressive church in Michigan has teamed up with a Christian ministry to take working and broken guns off the street, offering folks willing to trade in their wares up to $200 in Kroger gift cards.

St. Paul’s Church in Jackson, MI, is part of the Episcopal Church denomination. They recently teamed up with

to coax gun owners to turn in their weapons in exchange for gift cards ranging from $50 to $200.

It is unclear how many guns were turned in.

The church claims their purpose for the buyback is to protect children from unwanted death from firearms, but given the church and denomination is pro-choice, it’s safe to say the loss of life and murder of children from violence is not really on their priority list.

Jessica Reinstra, congregation liaison for Disarmory Ministries, told WILX:

We’re just one piece of the puzzle. We’re not pretending that this is the answer to all gun violence. We’re just doing our little part and we feel that there’s many pieces to the puzzle so we encourage everybody to do their part.

Hoo boy. If you could put these servants of Satan in the Garden, they’d be having a fruit-of-the-tree-of-the-knowledge-of-good-and-evil buyback. They place the blame on everything but the wickedness of the heart inherent from Adam, and rather than accepting the one and only cure to that disease, which is the Gospel, they appease and encourage the wickedness. They act 100% counter to the Gospel. The Gospel which says there is one way, and only one way, to deal with the wickedness of the heart and the corruption of creation from the sin of Adam. It takes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to drive wickedness out of the heart. That’s the Gospel.

What they’re doing is 100% counter to the Gospel and it’s also just plain stupid. Because it’s impossible to ever buy back or round up all the weapons in existence. If somebody with wickedness in their heart desires to murder, then they can and will find a weapon. Only God can stop them. And that’s the entire point of the Gospel.
