Joseph and Kendra Duggar Withdraw ‘Not Guilty’ Pleas in Child Endangerment Case

Days before they were scheduled to appear in court to answer for multiple counts of child endangerment and false imprisonment charges, Joseph, 31, and Kendra Duggar, 27, have withdrawn their ‘Not Guilty’ pleas in exchange for a plea deal.

In March 2026, Joseph Duggar, was arrested for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl. Following the execution of a search warrant in Arkansas that led to her husband facing extradition to Florida (where his crimes were committed), police reportedly found padlocks on all the children’s doors, locking them from the inside, which would make it impossible to exit in the event of a fire or other emergency.

As a result they were both charged with

  • Four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor (second degree)
  • Four counts of false imprisonment (second degree)

Both charges are Class A misdemeanors, and the maximum punishment per count is a fine of up to $2,500 and up to one year in jail.

Kendra and Joe have four children.

Yet by withdrawing the ‘not guilty’ plea, the couple set the stage for pleading ‘guilty’ or ‘no contest’ to the charges. In doing so, as part of a plea deal filed in the Elm Springs District Court, the couple will pay an $1850 fine, abide by court directives to stay out of trouble for a year, and have the charges dropped.

The review hearing for this will be August 4, 2027.

Along with these lesser charges, Joseph is still facing between 15 years and life in prison for the Florida charges, which include:

  • Lewd and Lascivious Behavior Conducted By a Person 18 Years or Older.
  • Lewd and Lascivious Behavior – Molestation of a Victim Less Than 12 Years Old

Presently Joseph, who was freed on a $600,000 bond is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with his children, though Kendra is.

This high profile family is riddled with dysfunction. Plus they have allegiance to an autocratic leader, Bill o, who rules by legalism but privately exhibits questionable beahvior. Situations like this give Christianity an undeserved black mark!
