Pawleys Island Community Church (PICC) has shuttered its school, Pawleys Island Christian Academy (PICA), following revelations that multiple church leaders and administrators conspired to conceal that convicted sex offender Warren Spencer Perry was volunteering at the school with their full knowledge and blessing.
Notably, former church pastor Don Williams, church administrator Ginny Williams, former PICA director Jennifer “Niki” Howard, and the church’s director of operations and missions, Anthony Fields, were arrested and charged with obstruction, criminal conspiracy, and unlawfully placing a child at risk or causing a child harm as a result of their actions. Perry was also arrested.
In a letter sent to congregants on August 10, the church explains its decision to close, which will affect hundreds of students and children.

Despite the pastor and admins resigning, the church is facing six lawsuits related to the case, including a class action lawsuit for concealing Perry’s involvement all the while promoting their schools safe environment.
