The YouVersion Bible app is the most downloaded bible app in the world. Offering over 3,600 Bible translations in over 2,300 languages, it has recently hit one billion downloads since its creation in 2007.
To celebrate the upcoming World Cup, the app is running its Mid-Year Bible League from 11th June to 19th July, where “nations will compete to see which country is spending the most time in Scripture.”
Those who open the Bible App for seven days in a row will earn an exclusive badge and represent their nation, and the country that spends the most time will be ranked to see who will be victorious.
The app will feature testimonies from famous soccer players, including Brazil’s Kaká, Colombia’s Juan Cuadrado, Mexico’s Santiago Gimenez, Uruguay’s Ronald Araújo, Italy’s Jorginho, and the USA’s Walker Zimmerman.

Nando Valente, YouVersion’s Brazil Hub Leader, said of the scripture challenge:
“Great athletes don’t just show up to the game; they put the work in behind the scenes, even when no one is watching. Our spiritual lives require that same daily dedication. This challenge isn’t just about celebrating sports; it’s about helping people around the world build lifelong Bible engagement habits. Watching millions seek God’s Word daily, alongside athletes who inspire them, is a powerful reminder that true growth happens when we consistently commit our time to Scripture.”
