(Jon Harris) Russell Brand was known as a promiscuous drug using celebrity playboy type up until April 2024, when he announced a sudden conversion to Christianity and baptism.
Skeptics, like Bill Maher, understandably wonder if it is another publicity stunt, especially in light of subsequent charges that he committed rape and assault for alleged incidents dating from 1999 to 2005.
For my own part, I am not automatically dismissive of a reported conversion experience unless there are serious theological red flags that accompany it. What we’re supposed to be doing …
“But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, 11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.” (1 Thess. 4:11-12)
Russel Brand doesn’t even know how to take a shower and put on a clean shirt in 7 days’ time. His nasty, effeminate t-shirt sticks to him like he hasn’t taken one in months.
These people claim to become Christians and the first thing they do is try to make money off of it. 99.99999% of the time, theirs is a false gospel and a false Jesus, which leads others astray. They are fakes and frauds. Grifters. Scammers and swindlers.
The man’s net worth is $20 million. If he’s serious, then let him give away his book.
Funding within the Body of Christ, for the Lord’s work must always be voluntary without compulsion (2 Cor. 9:7, etc.). It should never be sold. None should ever be coerced or compelled to either give or buy. I know that steps on a lot of toes, but that’s just too bad. It’s the truth.
