New ‘Joseph of Egypt’ TV Series from ‘The Chosen’ Director Dallas Jenkins Begins Filming
Dallas Jenkins is expanding his “Chosen Bible Universe,” with Deadline reporting that the new series ‘Joseph of Egypt’ has begun filming in New Mexico for Prime Video.
Designed as a three-season limited series with eight episodes per season, the show stars Adam Hashmi, previously seen in one episode of Bridgerton and one episode of Criminal Record. The official logline reads:
In this iconic Old Testament story, betrayed by jealous brothers, Joseph (Hashmi) defies all expectations and rises to incredible power in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. But when his past catches up with him, he faces the ultimate test.”
The series will also feature Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah. While not directed by Jenkins himself, the series will be executive produced by him and co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
Presently, 5&2 Studios, which was formed by Jenkins after broke away from Angel Studios, is overseeing the production of The Chosen franchise in addition to “a lineup of film and television projects set in the biblical world,” which include:
The Chosen Adventures, a 140-pisode animated series that “follows 9-year-old Abby in the Galilean city of Capernaum, circa 30 CE”
The Chosen In the Wild with Bear Grylls, a six-episode unscripted adventure series where Grylls “ventures into the wild with one cast member while exploring their personal stories and diving deeper into their own perspectives on the series and the characters they portray.”
The Chosen, which will debut season 5 in 2025 and finish it’s seventh and final season in 2028.

Acts of the Apostles, which is expected to launch at the conclusion of the Chosen and follow many of the same actors as they recount the story of the early church.
