Vatican Hosting First-Ever Jubilee Event For Radical Pro-LGBTQ Group
In a further sign of how Pope Francis keeps slowly pulling his billion-member institution towards the rainbow abyss, for the first time, there will be a special Holy Year calendar event for LGBTQ Catholics at the upcoming 2025 Jubilee – a major Roman Catholic event celebrated every quarter century that is expected to draw over 30 million pilgrims to Rome.
We last wrote about the Jubilee after discovering that the designer of the event’s mascot has previously designed art for sex toys and Pride events.
According to the Italian daily, Il Messaggero, the event published on the Vatican’s official online calendar will be sponsored by Jonathan’s Tent, a pro-LGBTQ activist group dedicated to fighting for full acceptance, inclusion, and celebration of LGBTQ Catholics in the life of the church (the group is named “Jonathan’s Tent” because they believe Jonathan and David had a homosexual relationship).
During the Jubilee, LGBTQ Catholics can attend a prayer vigil at the Jesuit Church of the Gesù before heading down to St. Peter’s Basilica.
Commenting on the event, Gabriele Piazzoni, the general secretary of the LGBTQ advocacy group Arcigay, noted:
Any initiative aimed at welcoming LGBTQIA+ people and overcoming the obstacles they encounter in fully exercising their rights, including those of a spiritual life, can only be welcomed by us with applause and enthusiasm.
Catholics are still today the most hostile politicians to the exercise of our freedoms, as well as many freedoms related to the dignity of people and self-determination over their bodies, from end-of-life issues to voluntary termination of pregnancy. And these remain facts that are difficult to overcome with a pilgrimage, however welcome and positive in itself.
