A Christian school is facing backlash after a teacher canceled ‘Autism Week,’ calling the activities that surround the awareness campaign ‘Demonic.”
In an email sent to parents, Pastor Matt Baker of Trinity Christian Academy, a 400-student private school in Lake Worth, informed parents of their decision to scrap the event:
“Remember those bracelets from the 2000s that asked, ‘WWJD?’ If Jesus Christ led Trinity, would HE have an Autism Awareness Week? Of course not! Why? Because anything that exalts itself above the name of Christ should be brought down. Also, anything that teaches our children to have their identity in anything other than Christ is idolatry and demonic.”
“Let me repeat myself just so I am not quoted out of context, any philosophy, teaching, or program that teaches our precious children that their identity is found in anything other than Christ is idolatry and demonic. Period.” (Click the picture to read the email below)
The school, which is affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God denomination, did not say what sort of activities were considered demonic and told parents that if they don’t find his statement “Jesus is enough” to be sufficient, then parents may want to consider leaving.
