SBC Megachurch Invites Pastrix Christine Caine to Preach Sunday Morning Service with Wiiiild Introduction
Church by the Glades has long been regarded as the Southern Baptist Convention’s flagship circus church. Known for their extravagant attempts to keep their members entertained by incorporating profane media in the pathetic hope of catching the attention of wayward goatlings and luring them into staying, the 8000-member Florida megachurch has done things like play a cover of Run D.M.C’s sleazy and sexual song Walk this Way in church, performed Kendrick Lamar’s N95, only cleaned up and sanitized for church audiences, removing the curse words and racial epitaphs for a sermon illustration, put on a Willy Wonka Christmas worship service’ and put on crazy ‘Baby Shark’ mashup during service, replete with smoke and canons, among many, many more.
Lead pastor David Hughes has touted his church as ‘hyper-creative’ and insists that the Sunday service should be a memorable ‘show’ for people to talk about long after they’ve left. To that end, as reported by The Dissenter, they invited ‘pastor’ Christine Caine to preach their Sunday morning service last Sunday, giving her an introduction more befitting of a WWE wrestling match and prompting Cain to introduce herself as a part of the church’s “extended teaching team,” given how frequently she teaches.
Of course, a female pastor preaching during the morning service is in complete violation of the Baptist Faith and Message, but given what other massive problems Church by the Glades has, that’s likely the last thing they’re thinking about.
Editor’s Note: Along with being Lifeway’s golden goose, Caine is a pastor at Mariners’ Chruch, where Ed Stetzer attends and sits under her. She’s a charismatic, egalitarian, one-time leader from Hillsong who preaches the word/faith prosperity gospel. Caine holds to the notion that Jesus died on the cross to give you possessions, wealth, and health and that it is there for the taking if you have enough faith and confess it positively. She also leads Propel Women, a network designed to empower women to become preachers and pastors.
You lost me at “pastrix” as there is no such biblical thing.
David Hughes has never failed to not disappoint 🙁
