Florida House Votes in Favor of Death Penalty in Child Rape Cases

In one of the good news stories of the year, late Thursday, the Florida House passed a bill that would allow the death penalty for people who rape children under the age of 12. The House voted 95-14 in favor of the bill, setting up what looks to be a fight over constitutionality as the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in 2008 that it was unconstitutional to execute defendants in a child rape case.

The bill’s rising-star sponsor, Representative (R) Jessica Baker, said that she hopes the law will motivate the Supreme Court to reconsider the issue. While the Supreme Court is more conservative than it was 15 years ago when they last looked at the issue, it is unclear whether they would overturn the 2008 ruling.

Unsurprisingly, some liberals in Florida are opposed to the bill. While liberals and progressives typically either slander or ignore the United States Constitution, in this case, they are using it as an excuse not to execute child rapists.

Aaron Wayt a prominent liberal attorney in Florida, spoke out against the bill:

“This bill invites a longer, costlier (legal) process for the victim and their family that they will endure. While this crime, anyone convicted of it is vile, heinous, the Constitution itself, the case law, the Supreme Court demands a maximum of life in prison. And so while it’s not the vengeance we all want, it’s the justice that the Constitution demands.”

A brief glance at Wayt’s Twitter account suggests why he would be opposed to the death penalty for child rapists. He tweets in favor of drag queen story hours and even retweeted a Catholic priest who said he would deny Florida Governor Ron DeSantis communion if he signed the bill. People like Wayt will always support the perverts over the victims of perversion; it’s one of the hallmarks of American liberalism.

The real hero of this bill’s passage is its sponsor – Rep. Jessica Baker. After the House passed the bill, she took to the floor and gave a rousing speech in which she said, “There is no earthly redemption for somebody who rapes a small child; only God can save them. And in Florida, we should be eager to arrange that meeting.”

The Bible tells us children have a special place in God’s heart. Anyone who molests a child is inviting God’s wrath upon himself. If God wishes to use the judicial system in Florida to carry out His wrath on these deviants, that is His prerogative. These members of the Florida House should be applauded for their bold action in a day and age when judges and other elected officials in liberal states are constantly letting child sex offenders off with little more than a slap on the wrist.

  1. A person that does such a heinous crime has forfeited their right to live in society. In Christ’s time, the bar was so much lower.

  2. Good on ya Florida.

Now …… someone ask DeSantis what the punishment should be for someone aiding and abetting genocide thru the clot/kill shot. Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. I agree wholeheartedly. And I would say they should make it an automatic death penalty for a rapist of anyone. Child or adult. The OT lists the death penalty for 4 crimes– homicide, rape, kidnapping, and adultery.
