Is Jesus a Maid? Charismatic Leader Claims God will Miraculously Clean Messes, Remove Mildew
A Charismatic leader has declared that if you don’t have enough time to clean up the mess in your house, such as mildew in your closets or bathrooms, to just claim a particular bible verse and God will miraculously clean it up for you.
We last heard from Word of Faith Huckster Andrew Wommack after he announced that he was converting his in-person Healing is Here conference to a “Livestream event only” after several members of his staff got sick from the coronavirus and unsurprisingly were not healed by Wommack.
Now, the platformer of strange fire took to the airwaves for his February 2 show and unsurprisingly, engaged in some grade-D bible-twisting to manipulate and warp the word of God for some lying point, explaining:
When my wife and I first got married we were poor and we lived in a house that wasn’t insulated, and so we had a gas heater on the inside to keep the place warm, but because there was no insulation the walls sweat, and in the closest especially where it was dark and stuff like this, we just had mildew everywhere.
And you know what I did? Instead of taking something and cleaning it off and repainting or something? I took Deuteronomy 28 and read it: “Mildew, you are a curse.”Then I turned over to Galatians 3:13: “I’m redeemed from you!” And I spoke to mildew and cursed it! And did you know, it went away without me having to clean it and do something.
It was a curse, and I rebuked the curse and I got free from that.”
Of course, because Wommack doesn’t know anything, despite being a highly esteemed and respected leader in the charismatic movement, and because most of his listeners are biblically illiterate, they wouldn’t know that the verse he is quoting has nothing to do with what he’s saying.
In context, Moses explains on Mount Ebal that if Israelites listen to and obey God they will be blessed. But, as verse 15 says, “if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you.” He lists some curses, then gives this one, in verse 20-22.
The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me.
The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess.
The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish.
Right? Total bible butchery. According to the scriptures he referenced in Deuteronomy 22, the reason Wommack would have received the “mildew” in the first place (which was in fact a blight that destroyed crops) was that he was being wickedly disobedient, and this was serving as a curse.
Hmmm, maybe he got part of it right after all.
Ever been someone’s home or even staying there, especially a relative, and you pull back the shower curtain or the door and what you see is shown above and below? What do you do in that event? I say go to a hotel.
