Ted Cruz and 20 GOP Senators ask FDA to Classify Abortion Pill as ‘Dangerous’ and take it off the Market
In a move sure to enrage both pro-choicers and so-called Christian progressives alike, most who are pro-choice anyway (Jemar Tisby and The Witness BBC) a group 20 Republican senators, led by Texas senator Ted Cruz, sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration asking the commissioner to “Classify the abortion pill as an ‘imminent hazard to the public health’ that poses a ‘significant threat of danger’ and remove this pill from the U.S. market.
The letter also accuses the abortion industry, the media, special interest groups, and billionaire philanthropists of wanting an ‘unregulated and demedicalized’ abortion pill since it was first intriduced.
“We believe this deadly pill should never have been approved, yet the abortion industry was politically rewarded with an accelerated approval process normally reserved for high-risk drugs that address life-threatening illnesses like AIDS. As you are surely aware, pregnancy is not a life-threatening illness, and the abortion pill does not cure or prevent any disease.”
….According to FDA reporting, the abortion pill has taken more than 3.7 million preborn lives, caused 24 maternal deaths, and resulted in at least 4,195 adverse maternal reactions including hemorrhage, excruciating abdominal pain, and severe life-threatening infections.
The pill was approved by the FDA in 2000 and is currently used as a primary means in many abortions.
In the U.S. House, Republican Rep. Jody Hice is leading a group of 72 representatives in sending a letter making the same request.
