Pope Francis Suggests International Study to Determine if Israel is Committing Genocide in Gaza
Pope Francis is calling for the “global community” to study whether or not Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, according to excerpts from his new book Hope Never Disappoints: Pilgrims Towards a Better World, which were published by Italy’s La Stampa paper on Sunday. The progressive pontiff writes:
According to some experts, what is happening in Gaza has the characteristics of genocide…this should be studied carefully to determine whether (the situation) corresponds to the technical definition formulated by jurists and international organizations.
While there is no such thing as a ‘good’ pope, Francis has been particularly noxious and vexatious, doing things like affirming the faith of Joe Biden and saying he would never refuse him communion because the President’s love for abortion is between him and God, endorsing civil unions for gay couples, appointing multiple pro-choice people to his pro-life organization, saying that he’s open to priests blessing homosexual relationships, so long as there is no suggestion that they’re blessing gay marriages, and continuing to promote and endorse notorious LGBTQ-affirming priest James Martin.
It’s not the first time Francis has made veiled accusations against Israel. Several months ago, following the killing of the terrorist Hassan Nasrallah, which also saw several buildings destroyed and at least six people killed, Francis insisted that “the defense must always be proportionate to the attack” and that: “when there is something disproportionate, there is a dominating tendency that goes beyond morality. A country that does these things- and I’m talking about any country- in a superlative way, these are immoral actions.”
Despite what Francis may think, Israel’s war in Gaza is the furthest thing from a genocide, despite the country possessing the military capability to bring one about. Instead, Israel is being precise, cautious, and temperate in their mission, putting their soldiers at high risk in order to minimize civilian casualties.
