‘Christian’ Rapper Dropped by Label ‘Apologizes’ for Sexting

A month after Reach Records dropped producer and Christian artist GAWVI (real name Gabriel Alberto Azucena) after it was revealed that he’s been sending unsolicited nude pictures of himself to women for years, removing him from the label and booting him from the upcoming ‘We are Unashamed Tour’, he has broken his silenced and apologized for his actions, writing on Instagram:

Dear everyone, I have been spending time reflecting on these past couple of months and the years before, having meaningful conversations with God, my counselors, family, friends, and myself, about the mistakes I’ve made and the man I want to be on this earth

A few years ago, my marriage began to fall apart. Instead of leaning on God and facing the situation, I acted outside of the boundaries of my marriage. I began communicating and exchanging inappropriate photos with several women on social media… Even though I never met any of these women in person, it was inexcusable and wrong. I regret these mistakes, I take full accountability, and I apologize to everyone I’ve hurt by my actions.”

Now as I continue to reflect and wrestle with the choices I’ve made, I accept that God may continue to use this period of my life to show me things that I have needed to learn, so I can become the man he has called me to be.

While that sounds nice, his ex-wife Brianna Azucenam, with whom he has two children, disputes the sincerity of his apology, blasting him for his lack of honesty and accountability. She alleges it wasn’t just sexting with women he’d never met, but that he’d had a full-blown sexual affair which contributed to the marriage breaking down- something he neglected to mention, as well as the ways he gaslighted her through emotional abuse.

Lecrae’s Record Company Drops Artist After He Sends Several Scandalous Pics

Reach Records has dropped producer and Christian artist GAWVI (real name Gabriel Alberto Azucena) after it was revealed that he’s been sending unsolicited nude pictures of himself to women for years, removing him from the label and booting him from the upcoming ‘We are Unashamed Tour’, which was announced just 8 days before.

The brouhaha flared up after GAWVI revealed over the weekend that he was divorcing his wife, Brianna Azucena, after being separated since 2020, in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing :

“We did everything we could to make it work for years, but after seeking the support of friends, family and counseling, I came to an extremely hard decision to move forward in a direction that I felt would be healthiest. There is no scandal to gossip about, just 2 adults that made decisions that lead to this point. And if you know me, you know I hate divorce and I’m not here to promote it.”

This resulted in Brianna’s friend, visual artist and designer Cataphant taking to Twitter and raking GAWVI over the coals for his behavior, while also sticking up for his wife who has been for the last year lamenting on her now-private Instagram account for a marriage rocked by infidelity.

In follow-up messages, she reveals that those at Reach Records have known about the situation with him for a while and confronted him about it, but he was unwilling to change. Finally, with the scrutiny becoming too much to bear over the divorce announcement, they had to formally cut ties.

Our question would be if this: if his scandalous activity was known for such a long time, why did Lecrae and his label announce that he was joining them on their “We are Unashamed” tour? which is named after a bible verse about being unashamed of the gospel, less than a week ago? You know this guy is radioactive- why have him on tour?

We have reached out to Reach Records and will update this post accordingly.

‘Christian’ Hip Hop Artist Hopes Derek Chauvin gets Raped in Prison

A ‘Christian’ Hip Hop artist (CHH) has shared with the world how he hopes that convicted killer Derek Chauvin gets raped in prison – a take he then tried to distance himself from after receiving blowback from his fans.

Derek Minor, an artist and producer who has been a mainstay of the Christian Hip-Hop scene for a decade, was previously signed to Lecrae’s Reach Records. While no longer there as an independent artist, he still collaborates with members of Reach Records on a regular basis.

In fact. Minor was featured on a recent Reach Records 116 Clique release just a few months ago, joining Lecrae on the album Sin Vergüenza. This makes sense, as they share similar levels of wokeness and abandonment of biblical fidelity.

Of course, “don’t drop the soap” is a clear and incontrovertible reference to the notion that if someone in prison drops their bar of soap while they take a shower, when they go to pick it up it will expose them to be anally raped, with the perpetrator having convenient access to their orifices.

When pressed by his fans on why he would advocate for this – with sexual assault in prison being a very real, very terrifying prospect for anyone unfortunate enough to go – he backtracked, claiming to be meaning just the opposite.

He did doublespeak.

In response to calling Chauvin a “hoe,” Minor was likewise unrepentant.

In a post hours later, Minor lamented the death of Makiyah Bryant, saying, “Black people don’t even get an hour to mourn. She was 15.”

He likens her situation to the death of George Floyd, leading us to wonder whether he likewise “doesn’t want” the officer involved to be imprisoned where he might “drop the soap.” Thankfully there is clear body camera footage showing Mikiyah with a knife in her hand about to stab another teenager, getting shot because of it. That likely will not matter to Minor and other activists, who see everything through the prism of racism to the point of making evidence and logic irrelevant.

Sadly, these kinds of attitudes are nothing new within the Christian Hip-Hop community, who have by and charge succumbed to the rhetoric of Black Lives Matter and where the winds of strange doctrine and progressive ideologies are running unchecked, burning through artist after artist with no respite in sight.

Minor is just further proof of that.
