More Modalism? Pastor Mike Todd Says The Father is God 1.0, Jesus is God 2.0, and the Holy Ghost is God 3.0

Three weeks ago, a new video came to light featuring Transformation Church’s Lead Pastor Michael Todd preaching modalism, using vats of water, ice, and dry ice to show that in the same way these are all “expressions” of H₂O, just in a different form, so are the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost “expressions” of God.

Todd is known for crowd surfing during his church’s worship service and spending a lot of money. In the last two years, he’s given away $3,500,000 in houses, cash, and cars, spent $65,000 to buy 168 pairs of shoes, gave $600,000 away in “reparations” and purchased a real estate complex for over $20,000,000, and then another for $35,000,000. He also gave away a million dollars in a recent sermon series.

He’s also known for frequently appearing on Preachers n Sneakers Instagram account for wearing insanely expensive clothing and for giving the world perhaps the grossest illustration in church after he snorted and then hocked a loogie full of spit and snot into his hand and rubbed it in another man’s face.

In a newly unearthed video from his April 18, 2021 sermon Why Wouldn’t You Accept The Upgrade, Todd continues in his quest to explain the Trinity in the worse way possible, likening the Holy Spirit to an upgrade you might get for your phone- why wouldn’t you trade in the iPhone 6 for an iPhone 12- and comparing the godhead to software that you might need an upgrade for, where the Father is God version 1.0, Jesus is God 2.0, and the Holy Ghost is God 3.0

Why wouldn’t you accept the upgrade? Why? Why wouldn’t I have all of this power available to me all, of this help available to me? Because somebody said it was weird? Because somebody abused that the term before? Because you were never taught about it?

I have a burden to help you experience God 3.0. See, a lot of people don’t realize that there’s three versions of God, and when you talk about an operating system, it just makes sense to me in my mind. Most of us recognize God. Most of us have loaded up the operating system of God. We say ‘You know what? I recognize him’ But it is my goal at Transformation Church, we represent God to the lost and found, for one reason- that’s transformation in Christ.

What we want you to do is not just recognize that there is a big man upstairs, we want you to recognize there’s a God, but we want you to receive God 2.0, which is Jesus. So at the end of every service, in just a moment, I’m gonna give you an opportunity to receive Jesus. And once you receive Jesus, the sad truth is, this is where most people stop. They just worry about getting to heaven. And God said, ‘but I came, that you may have life and life to the full.’ And through this series, my prayer is that you would release God 3.0. You would release the Holy Spirit.

Immodest? Megachurch Pastor Mike Todd Preaches in Shirt Ft. Wife in A Bathing Suit

Transformation Church’s Lead Pastor Michael Todd is known for crowd surfing during his church’s worship service and spending a lot of money. In the last two years, he’s given away $3,500,000 in houses, cash, and cars, spent $65,000 to buy 168 pairs of shoes, gave $600,000 away in “reparations” and gave away a million dollars in a recent sermon series.

He’s also known for frequently appearing on Preachers n Sneakers Instagram account for wearing insanely expensive clothing and for his disgusting sermon illustration in church after he snorted and then hocked a loogie full of spit and snot into his hand and rubbed it in another man’s face. Recently, he also preached a heretical view of the Trinity that failed in every way possible, describing Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Ghost not as persons, but rather “expressions” of God. Ie. Modalism.

As part of his “Cuffing” sermon series, which prominently features a pair of furry pink handcuffs and all the innuendo and baggage associated with that, Todd preached on the importance of not getting ‘cuffed’ to negative comments, using Nehemiah as his sermon illustration and how Nehemiah was able to shrug off the mean comment and threats from Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite when he was rebuilding the temple.

Purposefully, as part of his sermon illustration, he wore a shirt of his wife with the caption ‘Hot Girl Summer,’ giving the congregation and the hundreds of thousands of people who stream his service an upfront look at her in a two-piece. He would later have ‘mean comments’ overlayed across his stream, reinforcing his point (the pop-ups are part of the church feed) that he should just ignore the comments.

Todd explains his justification for wearing the shirt, with the video showing his incredulity that all these prudish dum-dum haters would dare be offended by his shirt, all to the cheering and approval of the crowd.

Today, there’ll be comments about the sermon. People will comment good things, people will comment bad things. They will be mad because I had a picture of my wife on my shirt in a bathing suit.

‘How’s a pastor gonna get up there tempting everybody?’

But if you go on Forever 21, right now, your daughter has on a shirt with somebody they don’t know, in a bathing suit right now, and you- I love her and she wears bathing suits. Gasp! First Ladies wear bathing suits. Oh my God.

I’m so done with church people.

What I’m saying to you is ‘comment on it. I don’t care’. Next week, we’re going to Miami, we’re gonna be a Vu conference, and I’m gonna get comments, and I’m gonna do what God called me to do.
All over the screen, comments, but I’m gonna preach.”

Pastor Mike Todd of Transformation Church Teaches Heretical View of Trinity

Earlier in the week, Tony Evans appeared at the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention and engaged in the heresy of Modalism by describing the Trinity as a Pretzel. Pastor Mike Todd of Transformation church has joined the fray- giving an even worse analogy and illustration of what the Trinity is while continuing to show he has no business leading or teaching anyone.

Transformation Church’s Lead Pastor Michael Todd is known for crowd surfing during his church’s worship service and spending a lot of money.

Now, in a teaching video, Mike Todd uses vats of water, ice, and dry ice to show that in the same way these are all “expressions” of H₂O, just in a different form, so are the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost “expressions” of God.

This assertion is commonly known as the heresy of Modalism, a doctrine of demons if there ever was one, where all three members of the Godhead are not understood to be three distinct persons but rather expressions of one being, rather than three modes or manifestations.

Amusingly, he ends up teaching an even worse heresy than Modalism because the chemical composition of dry ice is not H₂O but rather CO₂, which is two carbon atoms bonded to one oxygen atom, unlike the one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms of steam, water, and ice. He explains:

It’s one God- everybody say ‘one God’. Say like you mean it ‘one God, three expressions. Okay, let me. What is this? It’s water. That’s what we say, but if you want to be very scientific, this is H₂O. Okay, this is H₂O. Let me ask you a different question…We established this is H₂O.

What is this? (Congregants: Ice.) You say ‘ice’. If we go down to its basic form, this is H₂O. Now, it’s in a different form than the liquid version, but…this is a different expression. So when your drink is too warm, you don’t put more water in it -it’s H₂O- but you put a different expression of H₂O into your drink. And we call it ‘ice.’

What is this? This is H₂O too. It’s dry ice, and it’s a different expression. So if that was God the Father, God the Son, this is God the Holy Spirit. Still H₂O. But it takes on a completely different form.

And this is what God is about to do in your life. You’re about to see evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit. Still God, still, still, still God. Still God. Still God. God the Father, God the Son, and God help me the Holy-

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. James 3:1

Transformation Church Gives Away $1M Dollars As Part of Sermon Series

Transformation Church’s Lead Pastor Michael Todd is known for crowd surfing during his church’s worship service and spending a lot of money. In the last two years he’s given away $3,500,000 in houses, cash, and cars, spent $65,000 to buy 168 pairs of shoes, gave $600,000 away in “reparations” and purchased a real estate complex for over $20,000,000, and then another for $35,000,000. Fresh off a raft of criticism after he rubbed spit and snot in a man’s face for a sermon Illustration’, he’s also known for being the most ‘dripped out’ pastor of them all, frequently wearing insanely expensive clothing.

Todd, who joined the church as the sound guy and became the lead pastor 4 years later in 2015, has grown the church from 300 congregants to nearly 5000 over a six-year period. This month, he launched his ‘Mo money, mo purpose’ series, where he’s giving away $1,000,000 dollars in 30 days. In fact, during one of the services, he gave the versace sneakers off his own feet to a congregant.

Mike Todd is a big proponent of Robert Morris’ book “The Blessed Life” which is about as straight-up bible twistingly money-grubbing as it can get. He’s taught it to his church years ago, as a poor mid-20-year-old, and now is wearing a $20,000 Rolex and $2000 shoes years after they got the buy-in. He references it multiple times in this sermon, explaining how Morris’s program changed his life.

This whole message of the service is that the more money you give God, the more he will bless you with and give you a purpose, which will then inspire you to give more money to God. And by ‘give to God’ he means give massive seed offerings to him and his church. He says that people should not believe in the poverty gospel, or the prosperity gospel, but rather the “purpose gospel” which sounds suspiciously similar to the former.

The purpose gospel is little more than the prosperity gospel with better rhetoric, and the fact that Todd is promoting and teaching it should surprise no one.

Disgusting! Megachurch Pastor Mike Todd Rubs Spit in Man’s Face for ‘Sermon Illustration’

Now, you can add winner of the most disgusting, bible-twisting sermon illustration ever.

During a January 16, 2022 sermon illustration, Todd hocked a loogie into his hands multiple times and rubbed the contents into a man’s face on stage, in order to satisfy some sick sermon illustration in a perverse imitation of Jesus healing the blind man in John 9:6. Todd asserts the revulsion people were experiencing at seeing him do it, is the same revulsion people will have with them as they pursue their dream, as sometimes receiving a vision from God means things sometimes get ‘nasty.”

The disgusting display included all sorts of scripture twisting, least of which is that Jesus spit on the ground and rubbed in some dirt to make a paste, not rub in a loogie full of mucus and smear it repeatedly over his face. Todd explains:

This is where most people would not face Jesus anymore. What most people would do is turn away. What I’m telling you is just as he’s physically standing here, knowing what’s coming, God saying ‘can you physically and spiritually and emotionally be able to stand when getting the vision or receiving it, might get nasty.’

I’m gonna say it in a point just like that. Receiving vision from God might get nasty. You mean ‘God I just bought, in crazy faith, I just bought my dream car. And now you’re going to ask me to sell it back and ride in the (hoopty?) again?’

Yeah, because the vision I’m about to give you, it might get nasty. Do you hear and see the responses of the people? What I’m telling you is how you just reacted, is how the people in your life will react when God is doing what it takes for the miracle. What are you saying? This man was blind and what (Jesus) was trying to do with this man is give him his DNA”

Prominent SBC Pastor Speaks at Gongshow Conference with Rockstar Prophetess Christine Caine

David Platt’s theology continues to shift from the good kind of radical to the bad, with the Mclean Bible Church pastor appearing at the IF:Gathering 2021 conference alongside charismatic, word of faith prophetess/rockstar demi-goddess Christine Caine. Caine was joined by a host of other speakers of varying repute, from the reasonably sound to the soul-shriekingly terrible. In no particular order, Francis Chan, Jackie Hill Perry, Anne Voskamp, Mike Todd, Eugene Cho, Ellie Holcomb, Latasha Morrison, Anita Phillips, Joni Eareckson Tada, Lysa Terkeusk, Lauren Chandler, and others.

Lest you think Platt is the odd man out, sandwiched between Francis Chan, a man a whisker’s breath away from becoming Roman Catholic and who believes he miraculously healed a whole village without the power of the Holy Spirit, and Anne Voskamp, the murmuring mystic who routinely blurs the line between the worship of God and achieving sexual ecstasy with him, famously describing how she “made love to God,” you’d be wrong.

While Platt is not so flamboyant as those two, the Past President of the International Missions Board has drifted in other ways, from saying that he is part of the problem in promulgating racial injustice on account of his white skin, or telling congregants who “can’t live” with the fact that their church family may be members of the Democratic party, who may vote for them, campaign for them, fundraise for them, and even run for office under their banner, that they should leave the church .

Naturally, the conference is sponsored in part by Lifeway Women, of whom Christine Caine is one of their most prominent authors, right up there with the Big Boss-man herself, Beth Moore.

This is no surprise. As we have thoroughly documented on this news site, Lifeway, the publishing arm of the SBC, routinely sells books by Anti-Trinitarians, Word-Faith and Prosperity teachers, New Age gurus, gay activists, mystics, Eastern Orthodox, and Roman Catholics.

Why should Caine be any different?

Just because she cut her teeth on Hillsong, the Brian Houston-led boondoggle that has the reputation for being among the most immature, Scripturally ignorant, and carnal people in the history of the world to ever call themselves Christians?

Just because she considers Joyce Meyer one of her best friends, chief mentor, and “spiritual mother,” who together hold to the “little god theology” and Word-Faith heresies that – like God – you can create destinies and demand temporal blessings simply by decreeing and declaring them into existence?

Just because she holds to the notion that Jesus died on the cross to give you possessions, wealth, and health, and that it is there for the taking if you have enough faith and confess it positively?

Just because she claims for herself the title of “activist” and fully promotes egalitarianism and Social Justice warrioring, along with founding a network designed to encourage women to become pastors and church eladers?

Just because Caine regularly recalls precise words that she says God has spoken to her, putting herself into the Biblical class of prophet, having supposedly heard direct, divine revelation from God?

We don’t think so. For Lifeway, those characteristics aren’t actually bugs, but features, and the other SBC affiliates who are speaking alongside Platt are just as guilty of enabling and contributing to the platforming of these speakers and spreading their words and theology far and wide.

Transformation Church Spends $65,000 on 168 Pairs of Sneakers (And You’ll Never Believe Who Benefits)

The Oklahoma-based real estate investment group church religious service provider known as Transformation Church that has set a seemingly new standard for throwing money in so many directions, has set the bar even higher this December.

Long gone are the days of pastor Michael Todd being simply content to wear the latest and greatest $3,000 shoes, these collectible kicks that few others in his congregation would ever be able to sniff, let alone touch, outside of a furtive swipe of the hand while supporting their crowdsurfing man o’ God.

What do you do when you’re swimming in money, good looks and you’ve already bought $20 million worth of commercial real estate but aren’t quite ready to make the jump to plant a satellite market in the saturated market of the South?

You further the spirit of Black Lives Matter via mostly-empty and economically-indefensible PR stunts.

In the newly resurgent Greenwood District sits Silhouette Sneakers & Art, “a highly-curated retail experience that brings limited and authentic sneakers and streetwear to Tulsa”. That is to say, they sell highly-priced athletic shoes that cater to sneakerheads, examples of which include Air Jordans ranging in price from $165 to $1100 and Adidas from $290.

These are the kinds of shoes that people otherwise in poverty strain their bank accounts to wear, chest-thumpable status symbols for the street.

In a move whose arithmetic sensibilities recalls the latest proposed federal stimulus package, Transformation Church just dropped $65,000 to clean out their highly-curated inventory and get some really sweet photos. How many pairs of shoes did they get for that sum? 168.

After all, why buy $50 pairs of shoes for 1300 children when you can spend $387 each to land 168 of them? It’s a small price to pay to build solidarity with our black friends and neighbors and help make sure that 168 “kids that are in an unfortunate situation” get overpriced footwear so they can look rich, imitate Pastor Mike with his awesome kicks, and set their eyes on things of this Earth, right?

Here’s the kicker. As it turns out, the owner of Silhouette Shoes is known to street evangelists in the Tulsa area for another reason.

Venita Cooper frequently serves as a deathscort at the Tulsa child sacrifice mill. In other words, Venita and her lesbian partner have repeatedly volunteered hours to don a rainbow-vest emblazoned with “CLINIC ESCORT” so as to rush abortive parents from their vehicles into the front door of the Tulsa Women’s Clinic and help drown out the preaching of the Gospel and offers of assistance from abolitionists and other sidewalk counselors.

Venita has played a very active role, of her own free volition, to volunteer in the murder of babies, a large percentage of whom were black, in Tulsa and to draw her lesbian partner further into the same dark practice.

This is the owner of the business Transformation Church just paid almost $400 per pair to “support” and get a photo op with. Not that the Church or Crowdsurfing Sneakersporting Pastor Mike would know any of that necessarily – like 99% of the other churches in Tulsa, the only time a member or attendee ever shows up at the abortuary is as a paying customer.

We reached out to Transformation Church for comment, but no one has responded.

What’s next for the pile of cash burning a hole in Pastor Mike’s pocket? Buying and donating 600$ T-shirts? 2000$ diamond necklaces? With the way this church is going, we wouldn’t put it past them.

Editor’s note. This article was written by Alan Maricle for Protestia. Edited slightly for brevity.
