Joe Biden Loses Bid to Turn Emergency Rooms Into Abortion Centers

(Life News) A federal district court in Texas issued an order Wednesday blocking the Biden administration’s attempt to force the state’s emergency room doctors to perform abortions—regardless of whether doing so violates their religious beliefs.

Judge James Wesley Hendrix determined that the state of Texas and two groups of pro-life physicians were likely to prevail in their case against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The outcome is a welcome victory for states such as Texas that pass pro-life laws but find themselves in a game of whack-a-mole with an administration desperate to protect “reproductive rights” in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“Emergency room physicians can, and do, treat ectopic pregnancies and other life-threatening conditions,” Denise Harle, senior counsel and director of Alliance Defending Freedom’s Center for Life, said. “Elective abortion is not lifesaving care—it ends the life of the unborn—and the government can’t force doctors to perform procedures that violate their conscience and religious…to continue reading, click here.

Apologia Church Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Editor of Check My Church Website

(Ministry Watch) Sarah Young’s Check My Church website seeks to “check every church in the country” and  “expose corruption, abuse, legalism, materialism, and wolves” in sheep’s clothing. But the watchdog ministry’s articles about “red flags” at Apologia Church have generated angry denials from lead pastor Jeff Durbin, who claims that Young is a cult member.

On Monday, the church’s attorney sent Young a cease and desist letter, claiming she has defamed the church and its members by either knowingly or recklessly spreading falsehoods.

The letter demanded Young remove her latest article on the church, which is now unavailable on the site, but other articles on Apologia remain. The article in question, “Apologia Church Members Abused Their Adopted Child | What Does the Church Know?” can be found in the exhibits to the attorney’s letter, which is available here.

The article claims the church encourages members to adopt babies and bring them to faith in Christ. Young claims the church provided counseling and cover to members Michael and Tiffany Hendrickson, who allegedly repeatedly abused the child they adopted.

On Saturday Aug. 13, Young emailed Durbin asking him to comment on…to continue reading, click here.

Pastor Preaches About How Successful He is, Calls People Who Criticize His Success “Losers”

Public Retraction:

An initial version of this article described Hamblin as a “traveling prosperity gospel televangelist and revivalist.” This information was incorrect and we apologize for the error, as he is not a prosperity preacher. We’ve issued a formal and permanent retraction on our page here.

(Dissenter) John Hamblin, also known as “Hambone,” is a traveling televangelist and revivalist who preaches in pulpits around the world. According to his website:

Pastors who have had Dr. Hamblin in their pulpit have named him; “a Bible preacher of note”, “a powerful revivalist” and “a pastor’s friend!”

He is a “preacher of note” for sure, but not of the Bible. In a sermon video from Lakecrest Baptist Church that recently surfaced, Hamblin tells a story about one of his supporters who withdrew support from his ministry. Retelling the story, he insisted that he did not want to know the reason why his supporter withdrew support, but the supporter insisted on telling him anyways. He then said that the reason his supporter withdrew support is that his ministry had become “so successful.”

Of course, these prosperity charlatans define success by how much money they make.

Recounting what his supporter who withdrew support told him, “We just have a philosophy in our …to continue reading, click here.

The 10 Highest-Grossing Christian Movies of All Time

Disclaimer. Half these movies aren’t ‘Christian’ at all and some such as The Shack and Heaven is for Real are openly heretical. Not only this, but the number #1 film is (spoilers) rife with bizarre Roman Catholic iconography and theology. Crosswalk is undiscerning for not pointing all this out. Still, the list is interesting.

(Crosswalk) Christian movies are a regular entry in today’s theaters, yet 25 years ago, they were essentially non-existent.

But then Mel Gibson’s The Passion of The Christ (2004) shocked Hollywood with its popularity, claiming the No. 1 spot at the box office for three weekends. The dynamic changed again when Alex and Stephen Kendrick’s Facing the Giants (2006) and Fireproof (2008) demonstrated that Christian movies don’t need a multi-million-dollar budget to succeed.

The popularity of those three films inspired countless young Christian filmmakers to hone their talent in the industry.

The list of highest-grossing Christian movies (see below) comes with a few caveats. It does not include 1998’s The Prince of Egypt, which is generally considered a “studio” movie rather than a Christian film (even though I’m a big fan of it). It also does not include movies from yesterday, such as 1956’s The Ten Commandments or 1959’s Ben-Hur, which would rank Nos. 1 and 2 when adjusted for inflation. Finally, the list uses domestic gross, not worldwide gross. (Thus, Breakthrough, which ranks in the Top 10 in worldwide gross, gets bumped out of the domestic list.)

Here are the 10 highest-grossing Christian movies of all time:

10. The Star ($40,852,824)

The story of Jesus’ birth is told through the eyes of the animals who walked alongside Mary and Joseph. This 2017 animated film starred top-shelf talent such as Zachary Levi, Tyler Perry, Keegan-Michael Key, Patricia Heaton, Christopher Plummer and Gina Rodriguez. It was nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Original Song), a Movie Guide Award and a GMA Dove Award. Rated PG for some thematic elements.

9. Soul Surfer ($43,853,424)

A 13-year-old surfer overcomes the loss of her left arm during a shark attack to compete once again. It’s the true story of Bethany Hamilton, who relied on her faith and the support of family and friends to learn to surf with one arm. It starred Anna Sophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt and Carrie Underwood. It was nominated for a Teen Choice Award, a People’s Choice Award and an ESPY. It won a Movie Guide Award for Best Movie for Families. Rated PG for an intense accident sequence and some thematic material.

8. The Shack ($57,386,418)

Mack, a father who is grieving the murder of his 7-year-old daughter, finds healing after receiving a letter from “Papa,” who invites him to a meeting in the forest. Mack meets Papa and then meets two others – Jesus and Sarayu. The movie was based on the bestselling novel of the same name by… to continue readng, click here.

Walmart Will Fund Abortion Travel to Kill Employees’ Babies in Abortions

(Lifenews) Walmart apparently supports killing its future customers and future employees in abortions. The corporation announced today that it will fund abortion travel for its employees — using its health care plan to subsidize travel for any employee who has to go more than 100 miles to get an abortion that will end the life of a unique human being.

According to a CNBC report, Walmart’s health care plans will cover abortion “when there is a health risk to the mother, rape or incest, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or lack of fetal viability.”

Although it appears Walmart will not cover all requests for abortion travel, the policy is inconsistent with science and medical care as treatment for ectopic pregnancies and miscarriage is not abortion and doctors have confirmed there is not really any medical reason for killing babies in aboritons.

There is some concern that employees could claim that abortions used as birth control are medically necessary to justify Walmart funding the abortion travel, and the company offered no information about how it would monitor such bogus claims.

As CNBC reports:

Employees and their family members who are insured through Walmart will also have travel costs covered, if they cannot access a legal abortion within 100 miles of their location, according to the email, which was sent by Walmart’s Chief People Officer Donna Morris.

Walmart is the nation’s largest employer with about 1.6 million employ…to continue reading, click her

Megachurch to Pay $13.1 Million to Leave the Denomination

(Christian Headlines) A Georgia megachurch with at least 10,000 members will pay $13.1 million to leave the United Methodist Church (UMC) denomination and become independent.

Mt. Bethel Church in Marietta will keep its property and assets after an agreement ended litigation between the church and the UMC North Georgia Conference. The agreement was approved in Cobb County Superior Court on June 3.

“God has moved mightily on behalf of Mt. Bethel,” Mt. Bethel Church leaders said in a statement.

“We are thankful that we have reached a settlement with the Trustees of the North Georgia Conference that puts an end to the litigation and enables us to move forward in faith as an independent church. We praise God for His provision and offer gratitude for all the parties involved in reaching this peaceful resolution,” they added.

“We extend abundant thanks to our members, faith community, and partners who have been praying for a God-honoring outcome.”

The settlement agreement states that the church will “cease all use” of the terms “United” and “United Methodist.” The church will also no longer use the Cross & Flame insignia or “any intellectual property of the United Methodist Church.” Any signs containing…to continue reading click here.

SBC Church that Expelled Hundreds Involved in Secretive Land Deal

(Capstone Report) First Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at center of a new dispute over sale of small lot valued at over $1 million as the church’s faces dwindling cash reserves and court mandated arbitration with hundreds of members church leaders expelled.

A Southern Baptist Convention church that excommunicated over 200 members in one email is now involved in a secretive land deal involving real estate worth over $1 million in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. First Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale sold a small portion of its land holdings following a business meeting but declined to reveal who bought the land and for how much before the congregation approved it.

The Florida Bulldog was the first to report the latest development swirling around the once thriving SBC church. According to the Bulldog, “The First Baptist congregation voted at a July 31 business meeting to sell property at 501 NE 2nd St., a 0.179-acre lot with a tear-down, two-story building, according to documents and multiple accounts. Church officials did not reveal the sales price or the buyer’s identity.

Dissident members—many of the several hundred expelled from the church for causing a division—questioned the land sale and the manner in which the church conducted the sale.

Brian Keno, a spokesman for the dissident members, said the sale highlights many complaints against the church administr- to continue reading, click here.

Matt Chandler’s The Village Church Resolves Child Abuse Lawsuit

(Ministry Watch) Dallas-area evangelical Baptist megachurch The Village Church said it has resolved a civil case alleging that a former youth minister sexually abused a former parishioner when she was a child, while reiterating its position of innocence.

In the lawsuit filed in 2019, a victim identified as Jane Doe said Matt Tonne abused her when she was underage. The suit also alleged gross negligence on the part of the church for not protecting her and claimed that The Village should be held responsible for the conduct of its staff members.

“After a thorough and lengthy legal investigation, we maintain and firmly believe that we committed no wrong,” the church said in a statement on its website announcing the settlement. “We pray that the individual and their family continues to heal and receive care following this resolution.”

The suit sought $1 million in damages, but the amount of the settlement was not disclosed.

Tonne was indicted in January 2021 for indecency with a child involving sexual contact, accused of sexually assaulting Doe at a 2012 church camp she attended when she was 11. Tonne denied the allegations.

In August of 2020, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office dismissed all criminal charges against Tonne when…to continue reading, click here.

1,000 Families To Sue World’s Largest Pediatric Gender Clinic, Lawyer Says

(The Daily Caller) The Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) at Tavistock, the largest pediatric gender clinic in the world, will be sued by about 1,000 families of children who were allegedly rushed onto puberty blockers at the U.K.-based clinic, attorneys told The Times.

The class action medical negligence lawsuit accuses the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in the U.K. of recklessly prescribing puberty blockers with harmful side effects and unquestioningly affirming the gender identities of children with inadequate analysis of mental health, according to The Times. The suit comes after an independent review of GIDS found the facility to be unsafe for children and the National Health Service announced it would shut the clinic down by 2023 and replace it with more holistic, mental health-centered facilities.

“These children have suffered life-changing and, in some cases, irreversible effects of the treatment they received which..to continue reading, click here:
