The U.S. Vice President of the Acts 29 network, Tyler Jones, has been removed from his position after he confessed to being involved in a long-term adulterous affair.
Jones, who is married and has three children, planted Vintage Church in 2002. The church is prominent in the Raleigh, NC region, and has since grown into a 1,500-member multisite congregation.
In addition to serving as founding and lead pastor, Jones had been involved in Acts 29 leadership since 2003. Acts 29 is a theologically driven, gospel-centered, Reformed church-planting organization that oversees more than 600 churches globally. He attained the role of Vice President and was frequently criticized by some for acting as an “enforcer” and driving more conservative churches out of the network.
That role is no more.
Jones confessed to the elders late last week and his church elders quickly voted to remove him. Similarly, Acts 29 has also terminated him.
Though framed as an “inappropriate relationship with a woman,” sources tell us the affair lasted seven years and took place between 2012 to 2019.
Both Vintage Church and Acts 29 declined to give a comment.
