Prominent Texas-based televangelist James Robison passed away this weekend at the age of 82, according to a message posted on social media by his board of directors and ministry family.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Rev. James Robison, the beloved founder of Life Outreach International.
James devoted his life to sharing the Gospel and bringing hope, help, and healing to those in need around the world. Together, James and Betty stewarded a ministry that has touched countless lives and will continue impacting generations to come.
Though we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life faithfully lived in service to God and others. In the months and years ahead, we will faithfully carry on the mission James cared about so deeply — bringing food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, and mostly, the hope of Christ to a hurting world.
The mission James gave his life to will continue with the same heart, compassion, and commitment that partners like you have faithfully helped make possible.
In the coming days, we will share additional updates as we move forward together. For now, we ask you to join us in praying for Betty, the Robison family, and the entire Life Outreach ministry family around the world.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
Robison founded the James Robison Evangelistic Association, (JREA) which took him around the world to hold crusades and youth meetings where he spoke to more than 20 million people.
He was the long-time host of the Bible teaching program “Life Today” and the JREA later became LIFE Outreach International. Their benevolence ministry, Mission Feeding, feeds more than 350,000 children a day. The ministry says it has helped save more than 24 million children.
Along with his feeding programs, his outreach ministry helped drill over 9,000 wells, delivering clean water to more than 9 million people.
In 2023, he and his wife Betty celebrated 60 years of ministry together.
Robison received some criticism throughout his ministry, including for having an affair from which he was “restored” in the early 1990s.
Notably, Disgraced former pastor Robert Morris toured with the James Robison Evangelistic Association after himself being “restored” after he was caught molesting a 12 year old girl, though Robison denies ever knowing her age, and believed her to be an adult.
