Man Who Fired Gun Outside Abortion Clinic, Threatened Abortion Abolitionists, Faces Charges

A Kansas man is facing felony charges after brandishing a gun and firing a shot in order to intimidate and threaten abortion abolitionists outside a Kansas Planned Parenthood.

According to a press release from members of Abortion is Murder Kansas (AIMKS)

A man arrived at the facility with a woman, who reportedly refused to exit the vehicle. According to witnesses, the man became visibly agitated while hearing Christians proclaiming the Gospel.

He first pointed a gun directly at one of the abolitionists and then brandished it in the air before firing a single shot toward the ground near a dirt berm approximately 30 yards from the abolitionist group. Witnesses moved to safety immediately.

Members of AIM KS were on the phone with law enforcement when the shot was fired. Officers reportedly arrived within minutes with lights and sirens activated. The suspect and the woman left Planned Parenthood but were apprehended by police shortly afterward near the interstate.

The shooter was identified as 22-year-old Dmarieon Lee Matthews and he’s been reportedly charged with:

  • Aggravated Criminal Threat
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License
  • Illegal Possession of Marijuana
  • Aggravated Assault (to be added by DA)
  • Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
  • Aggravated Endangerment of a Child (two children, including a one-month-old, were in the car)

ASIM KS added:

Although the Overland Park Police were able to protect all those who were outside the Planned Parenthood facility, they were powerless to do anything about the pre-natal murders that were occurring inside the building. AIM Kansas volunteers estimate that at least seven babies were brought to the abortion” clinic to be sacrificed.”

Aggravated assault charges in Kansas can result in 11-34 months in prison, and up to  $100,000 in fines.
