Pastor Says Jesus Was Flirting With Samaritan Woman, Offering Her ‘Living Waters’ AKA ‘Semen’

A progressive Episcopal pastor may have just uttered the most grossly twisted interpretation of Scripture, claiming that Jesus was flirting with the Samaritan woman, who was in turn trash-talking him about his semen and sexual abilities.

The Rev. Bryan O’Carroll is the Rector of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Valrico, Florida, which he oversees with the help of the Rev. Kristian Hodge.

According to their mission statement, they are “committed to following Jesus in every aspect of our lives. Our vision is to live together as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We are all on a spiritual journey together and we need each other to fulfill our call as ministers of the gospel.”

During his March 8 sermon, O’Carroll, using John 4 and the story of the Samaritan woman, offered a novel exegesis of the text, claiming the two were flirting over a sexual double entendre in the use of the phrase “living water.”

“So what is living water? Buckle up. Living water is a first century euphemism for ‘semen.’ ….She thinks it is the more innuendo level, Jesus is talking on a different level.

And so the next line, if you know that this is an innuendo, if you know that this is a comment, is hilarious, because she literally goes: ‘hey buddy, you ain’t got a bucket, how you gonna give me that ‘living water?’

It’s funny. It’s a funny line. This woman is actually, as a friend of mine said, this woman’s talking trash at the well with Jesus. I didn’t know that’s what the story was about.

But they’re flirting and they’re joking and they’re teasing. And at no point does Jesus condemn her. In fact, just the opposite, he laughs and he flirts back and he goes, ‘no, no, no, I’m talking about a water of life and of hope. I’m inviting you into a deeper conversation with God. But that’s pretty funny. It’s pretty good.

‘Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

John 4:4-15 NIV.

I am an Atheist but this comes off as the most irresponsible line of BS ever to come out of a minister of a congregation. Where the hell did he ever managed to come up with Living Waters being Seamen. Why would anyone listen to a preacher who is this delusional ???
