David French, who we like to call ‘The State’s Fool”, is a self-proclaimed “conservative” Christian commentator who can always be counted on to give the worst take possible on any situation.
These positions include announcing he’s pro-‘same-sex marriage, supporting ‘gender-affirming’ care for children, condemning Texas University for banning drag shows, declaring he’s voting for a Harris/ Walz ticket, getting upset when Christians call chemical castration of children “abusive,”and being a believer in using transgender personal pronouns.
After James Talarico won the nomination to be the Texas Democratic Senate nominee just a few days ago, a 2022 sermon he preached at his home church (PCUSA) went viral.
In it, he preached one of the most blasphemous and wicked messages we’ve heard, arguing that Mary giving God consent to implant her with Jesus is a biblical argument for being pro-choice and that Jesus himself was likely pro-choice. He also used the non-biblical Gospel of Thomas to argue for transgenderism, while saying things like:
“Our trans community needs abortion care too…so when I use the word ‘woman’ it should not be understood as an exhaustive term, but rather as a lens through which to understand, examine and interrogate patriarchy.”
While Christians on social media spent their time blasting this particular Democrat as demonic, David French had a different opinion. In an op-ed, he wrote that far from being a false brother, James Talarico is actually “one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian.”
French further describes Talarico as “one of the most faith-forward politicians in the United States” who “doesn’t just root his policies and ideology in his Christian beliefs” but is instead a seminarian willing to dive deep into theology.
Pointedly, he proffers that “Just as Christian conservatives often root their arguments about immigration and abortion in Scripture, so does Talarico,”
The two are not the same, however, as Talarico’s scripture twisting is obscene. Case in point:
French insists that “Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years” and points out that “the Bible contains remarkably few political mandates…but there is an immense amount of guidance describing how Christians should behave.”
This is where he believes Talarico shines. French believes that MAGA Christainity has become cruel, and Talarico is an antidote of kindness. He concludes:
This miserable political moment won’t end when the left takes back the government from the right or if the right continues to beat the left. It will end when our politicians — especially Christian politicians — forsake cruelty for compassion and realize that we shall know Christians in politics not by their stridency and ideology, but by their integrity and love, including their love for, as Talarico put it, “all of our neighbors.”
That’s the significance of the Talarico moment — not the old news that a Christian can be progressive, but rather that Christian politicians can actually act like Christians. Kindness still has a place in the public square, even if it doesn’t always seem that way.
Editor’s Note. Tellingly, coming to French’s defense is Christianity Today‘s Mike Cosper, who simply cannot comprehend how anyone could have a problem with French touting Talarico as an amazing Christian.

Their problem is that when they reject, defy, and rebel against God’s commandments, standards, and created order, they are calling Him unloving and unkind. Revealing that they do not first love God, and therefore cannot truly love their neighbor. They don’t know what love is. Blind leading the blind. They reject the fact that sin is always harmful. It’s always unloving. It’s always unkind. They believe they know better than God knows, revealing their hatred for Him. At the root of it is severe wickedness of the heart – jealousy, envy, covetousness, greed, discontent. It is that wickedness of the heart to which his campaign intentionally appeals. And it has been so since the serpent uttered the words “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” – Gen. 3:1. That’s the day the war against the Creator and His created order began. That’s the day the war against the patriarchy began. That’s the day feminism began. That’s the day a man, Adam, was fooled into believing it would be unloving and unkind to tell his wife “NO!”, and in his heart called God a liar.
“2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” – 1 John 5:2-3
Talarico himself is a lawmaker. Are the laws he sponsored and voted for in the Texas legislature also unloving and unkind?
Ask the question then. If the existence of limits (standards, commandments, laws) is not inherently unloving and unkind, then who is he to tell almighty God that He is wrong? If the existence of commandments and laws is deemed to be unloving and unkind, then by his own reasoning, then Talarico is himself campaigning for the most unloving and unkind job in existence.
They don’t have a problem with the idea of limits. They just believe their standards are superior to God’s standards. They hate Him. Deep in their heart, they hate Him. They despise everything about Him, and they want to take His place. They’re envious toward Him, first and foremost. Coveting what’s His. And their politics reflect it – rendering to Caesar (themselves) that which is God’s.
The head Patriarch is the one the hate the most.
And it’s been the same since Adam sinned. The pharisees had the same “politics”. Render to them that which is God’s (Matt. 15:1-9). Right, it was the same serpentine deception. “you don’t need to honor God’s commandments, created order, and ordo amoris. You don’t need to honor your responsibility to provide and protect your parents. That patriarchy stuff is bad. Give the money to us instead, and let us do it.”
But what they were really up to … things like defrauding widows of their houses, then for a show saying lengthy prayers (Luke 20:47)
If the Gospel is warped into a works-based, works without faith, and the church is transformed into a “community” serving do-gooders club, it’s just a small step from there to the wickedness of the pharisees. First must exist faith. First must exist love for God. Without that, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the implanted word, being truly born again, it’s impossible to truly love our neighbor. Those “works” become nothing but perversion of the grace and love of God into a license to sin. The church transforms into an institution of ennoblement. It sends the message, “sin is good, and God is mean and hateful”. The “church” transforms into little different from a coven of witches, den of thieves, and brood of vipers. I’ve seen it. I’m dealing with such a “church” right now. They’ll give you a loaf of bread. But they have no problem stealing or being complicit in the theft of $194,000 of equity from you, that you worked and paid for. Tossing you some crumbs back from that which they stole from you in the first place, then for a show say lengthy prayers patting themselves on the back as if they’ve done something good. They’re pharisees. Up one side and down the other. Using whatever wicked excuse they can dream up.
David French is an ashekeNazi Khazar crypto joo that should be run out of Christianity and back to his demon religion of the TalMUD and Kabbalah.
That he is even trying to legitimize a queer apologist as a Christian is effed up. Banish both and move on. David French is a FRAUD.
French and Talarico are wolves, antichrists who are to be marked and avoided……
The Church needs to make it clear that David French is NOT a Christian. He is a pretender.
