(Trinity Fi) Last spring, in a dispute over new church bylaws, a large group of concerned members of the 90,000-plus member Second Baptist Church (SBC) of Houston formed the non-profit Jeremiah Counsel Corporation (JCC) and filed a lawsuit against the church’s former senior pastor Homer Edwin Young, new senior pastor Ben Young, Lee Maxcy, Dennis Brewer Jr., and the Second Baptist Church Corporation.
This action was, they said, a last resort to reverse what they considered a hostile church takeover by what they collectively refer to as the “Young Group” – a new board composed mostly of immediate Young family relatives, staff and their lawyer, Dennis Brewer (more about Brewer below).

The filthy rags that are the righteousness of mankind. The ultra super duper intelligence of mankind. He repeatedly tries to fight sin with sin, to fight against an increase in sin, while adding to that increase, while also remaining astonished that sin has increased. Right. It’s not his particular sin that has contributed, but everybody else’s sin. The “genius” of mankind is something to behold.
There’s a good lesson here for all those who want to fight fire with fire. The desire of church leadership to protect the church from the wicked woke (feminist and sodomite) mob very well could’ve been genuine. But because they sinned by deceiving the congregation, at the end of the day all they’ve done is hand the enemy more free ammunition.
You cannot fight sin with sin any more than you can drive out darkness with darkness. Spiritual warfare is not the same as other sorts of war.
