Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, along with several other teammates including Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers, attended an event at Severn Elementary School last week, where they washed the feet of the students, gave them personal encouragement, and then outfitted them with new shoes.
The trio are all professing Christians. Jackson explained:
“I felt like it was cool to do. I didn’t do it for any special reason. I’m just trying to do something for the community and do something Christlike.”
Jackson said he didn’t know about the event—which was a partnership between the Ravens and the non-profit organization Samaritan’s Feet—until Ravens Chaplain Johnny Shelton mentioned it, prompting his involvement.
“It’s about being a servant. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show that no one is too big to serve. We wanted these kids to know that we see them, we care about them, and we are here to support them in any way we can.”

The Ravens highlighted the acts of service on social media, writing in part: “These acts of service…represent the importance of humility and serving others.”

Where are all the white women at?
The NFL dropped the ball several years ago when players followed Colin K. in kneeling for the national anthem. Colin and other pro sports players attained their status by following the rules of life and in the game. Not by breaking the rules, breaking the law and dropping out of life. But the NFL and other sports leagues inexplicably chose to champion the losers in our midst especially George Floyd, à la BLM. No wonder things haven’t improved since the Obama years (when this trend really began).
Hopefully Lamar and the others told the kids this fact of life, to not make excuses and blame others, but follow the rules for success.
