Pope Leo Gives Pathetic, Squishy Answer to Abortion Question

We had a good idea of what kind of Pope Leo would be after cataloging his history of squishy, woke, and downright questionable tweets, and a recent interview he gave leads no doubt.

When asked about a Roman catholic Cardinal’s decision to honor the long-standing pro-choice politician Dick Durbin, who has done all he can to support and entrench pro-choice policies and legislation in the country, not only did Leo give a non-answer, failing to take a prophetic and clear moral stand against the evil of our age, but he turned around and gaslight criitics with his equivocating comments on illegal immigration, abortion, capital-punishment, and what make someone “pro-life.”

“I think that is very important to look at the overall work that this Senator has done during, if I’m not mistaken, 40 years of service in the United States Senate.  I understand the difficulty and the tensions but I think as I myself has spoken (in the past) it’s important to look at many issues that are related to what is the teaching of the Church. Someone who says I’m against abortion but I’m in favor of the death penalty, is not really pro-life. So someone who says that I’m against abortion but I’m agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants who in are the United States- I don’t know if that’s pro-life.

So they’re very complex issues. I don’t know if anyone has all the truth on them, but I would ask first and foremost that there’d be greater respect for one another, and that we search together both as human beings and that case as American citizens or citizens of the state of Illinois, as well as Catholics to say we need to, you know, really look closely at all of these ethical issues and to find the way forward as Church. Church teaching on each one of those issues is very clear. Thank you.”

I’m anti-abortion, not “pro-life.” Saying that avoids this moronic “You’re not pro-life if you’re for the death penalty against murderers and rapists” argument. I figured that out in the 90s. What’s everyone else’s excuse?
